Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in a rut, just working, cooking, and sleeping with no time for yourself? I’m looking for some frugal ways to enjoy life and break out of this routine. What are some affordable activities or hobbies that you enjoy?
I’m open to any suggestions that can help me add some excitement and fulfillment to my life without breaking the bank.
Thanks for your input!
PatriciaMake your home a lovely sanctuary! A place you want to be! Since I’ve done that, I have no desire to try and escape my life!
My husband and I replaced our dining room table with a ping pong table! I don’t care that it’s not beautiful! It suits us!
Home is the place where you get to let your guard down and be happy in sweatpants!
Make that happen and the whole world changes!
HayleeRead/library card. You can decide what world you want to jump into depending on the genre.
KellyI hike with my dog. I have coffee with friends, either at my home or at an affordable local cafe.
I crochet, and yarn can be expensive, but I sometimes find it cheap on Facebook marketplace.
I bake from scratch, which I enjoy doing and also enjoy eating the results.

EmilyI love a long walk in an area with minimal traffic. Helpful for physical and mental health.
ReneeWalking with neighbors/friends.
Volunteer to help others.
Learn a new hobby.
MadalynHike – podcasts while hiking – volunteering – volunteer mentoring for Big Brothers Big Sisters 😊 Our library has a lot of fun groups that are free. For example- cook book club. Most of the stuff I have on hand and can make. Gets you out of the house!
JenniferA hot bath before bed. Possibly with a good book and a glass of wine. Even if the bath only lasts 10 minutes. You could have some of your favorite music playing in the background.
LynnGet involved with a hobby. For 30 years I was a volunteer Living History Site reenactor and costumer. Great entertainment. Made plenty of friends. Lots of research to do on 1700 Spanish Colonial clothing.
Can’t recommend it enough.
MicheleTake pictures with phone. I like nature pics on walks. Especially autumn leaves, lakes, waterfalls, sunrises and sunsets, rainbows etc. Print off pics and give as gifts
DianaGo for a walk in the fresh air, go to the library, watch for free festivals in your area. Plant a small vegetable garden, spend time with family and friends and enjoy.
LisaFree community events. It’s fun learning something new.
BobDefinitely walking/hiking also fishing is cheap once you have the equipment.
ShelleyWalking, reading, library, also community pool is very cheap, if you get a membership card/voucher its much cheaper to do things such as go to the movies or even just catching up with people ie at the park, their house or yours, our museum is free also – plenty to do for free or hardly any cost!
Don’t miss: I want to live frugally but have absolutely no idea where to start!
MichelleLook up free times and days for local museums, go for walks in parks near my home and feed the deer our leftover produce, check out free parking times or days in your downtown area.
RebeccaFind a radio station that plays your favorite genre. A creative hobby can be very relaxing.
