      I love cooking.
I’m wondering if there are any cookbooks anyone would recommend for like… frugal, but “stepped up” cooking?
      Is that even possible?

I see so many “fancy” recipes I’d love to try but they call for higher end ingredients (which are expensive) and I just wonder if there are any cookbooks out there that are tailored for frugal foodies

Go to a thrift store and find a recipe book put together by some church. Usually full of frugal, good recipies.

I like the fix it and forget it series. I like to borrow cookbooks from the library and note down new recipes to try.

Adding extra ingredients to a standard dish can elavate it with out needing to go super fancy or pricey

For specialty ingredients check out asain markets they are usually alot cheaper for the same item (I get most of my spices from them)

My hubby loves my lentils it’s just lentils, garlic and whatever else I feel like throwing in (usually chili, and some thyme/rosemary)

Try checking out all sorts of cookbooks at local library…find the one or more you like then purchase it, or copy the recipes and make your own binder of recipes.

My go to source for recipes is Pinterest. I especially like recipes from other countries.

Many are actually quite frugal because other countries have been through many more wars when food as scarce.

Other countries often use different spices than we do, but they are often spices you have, like cinnamon, ginger, mint, lemon, thyme, oregano, basil, paprika, cumin, etc.

if you don’t have them already look in your grocery store store for a Badia spice display.

They will have small bags of various spices for 1 to 2 dollars each

A local library card usually allows you access to a plethora of cooking books. Some of them might even be geared towards frugal cooking, but if not, most of those recipes can withstand substitutions of more frugal ingredients.

With so many great recipes on the internet, I might never buy another cookbook!

My best cookbook ever came from a local colleges culinary students, they put it together as a class project and fundraiser. I absolutely loved it, and passed it on to my son.

They love it too easy but great recipes
