Hello everyone. I am from HK. In the past I mainly invest in HK stocks, recently I want to diversify my portfolio and I am considering the US stock market. I did some research. MMM seems a good one for generating cash flow while VOO is good for capital gain.
I want to portfolio with diversified risk. So any more suggestions for stocks good for cash flow generation?
ErnestFor someone looking for “diversification”; I’d avoid individual stocks (3M in this case). S & P 500 ETF is a good choice (IVV, SPY, VOO, etc). When you talk about “generating cash flow”; are you talking about dividends? If you are; Total Returns is more important. Last point; I’m assuming you’ve looked into the tax implications?
If you’re using IBKR, they should be familiar with the tax ramifications for international investors.
LeongBare in mind there’s a 30% withholding tax on dividends for non US citizens (unless your country has a taxation agreement)… But there are no taxes on capital gains!
AdelinaMMM has a lot of litigation issues at the moment which is why it’s stock price is depressed.
