My wife and me are embarking on the journey to become debt free. We have baby step 1 down.
My wife is a stay at home mom, and I am praying I can keep her that way. She is wPeking toward starting freelance copywriting.
I am workinh 55 hours a week at my primary job, and have had a side job for the last year that was daily consistent.
This year they have hired more people so my side work has dropped significantly.
I am a draftsman in the steel industry, and am curious if you have any suggestions on finding side work for people In the drafting field.
NicoletteI don’t know about side work for yourself, but could your wife start babysitting inside your home? That could bring in additional money so you don’t need need to get a 3rd job.
AndrewWelcome! So excited to hear you are embarking on the debt free journey. You will never regret it, seriously. Have you started budgeting yet? If so, how is it going? You may just find that you don’t need a second job. If you do need a second job. Does it need to be in your industry, could it be somewhere else?
CarlzI am a SAHM too.
Don’t forget to calculate how much your wife is contributing to your bottom line by saving you guys money. The effect on your bottom line is exactly the same if she save $50 or earns $50. It’s encouraging to see the value we bring in $$ and it makes it more motivating to do more.
For instance I did a lot to save on electricity when we first started. I was turning off lights, putting thing on power bars, line drying clothes, doing laundry only at off-peak times(cheaper electricity) etc and brought our regular electric bill down by over $200-300/month
I calculated all the $ I save our family each year and it came to ~$60,000!
