Curious what everyone’s thoughts are on using a credit monitoring company.

They’re pricey, and offer different things, so just wondering how frugally necessary these companies are or not.

We’re probably like so many people who get those notices that your info was part of a “breach”.

But are these companies really worth it?

And if so is there one in particular that you use? Thoughts?

There are so many free options. Credit cards offer it. And with so many breaches those companies also offer a year or two of free service.

Just need to do a bit of research.

I personally have a freeze on my credit so I don’t even worry about my credit being used.

Now the SSN breach is a different headache.

It’s truly a waste of money and one more company that has access to your information.

Just put a freeze on your credit.

Nope, you can do without. Keep track of your credit card and file a free claim with the credit card co if there is a charge you didn’t authorize..

Be careful using a debit card.

That account can be cleaned out and there is not much you can do about it.

Be sure to change your passwords and pins at least once a year.

Freeze your credit with the three credit bureaus, then no one can open accounts in your name.

I have Monarch Money to handle all my finances in one place, including cash flow and budgeting.

I quickly review all transactions each day, so I would catch any fraud immediately.

You can freeze your credit with all three credit reporting agencies. This prevents anyone from applying for a loan, credit cards, etc., because creditors are not able to your credit report.

You get a code to use to unfreeze your report if you’re going to apply for credit.

Put a freeze on all 3 credit reports for all the adults in your household.

You have to lift the freeze if you want to borrow money for something, but it prevents people from taking out loans in your name.

                  It doesn’t cost anything.

It’s not hard to lift the freeze, takes a few minutes online.

You can even ask the lender which bureau they use so you only have to lift the freeze on that one for the loan to go through.

                  Then refreeze it.

I froze my credit and signed up for credit karma. I would not pay for a service to monitor my credit.

It’s my job to do that and I do it for free.

You can create free accounts at all three credit reporting agencies – Experian, Equifax, and Transunion.

They have many options to help you do it yourself.

Freeze it if you wish or not.

ou can also set them to send alerts if something happens
