Are there life insurance companies that don’t require health screenings for overweight individuals?

      Looking for options.
I would like to get a term life insurance policy as I don’t currently have any outside of the policy my work offers.

I am presently pretty overweight, but have been losing about 1lb/week and plan to continue until I get to my goal weight.

I thankfully have no health conditions so even though I am overweight, I am “healthy.”

I know the more you weigh, the higher your premiums are because of so many increased risks.

I don’t want to be ‘punished’ for being fat, especially when I am actively losing weight and bettering myself.

I am looking for a happy middle ground as I know I will ultimately lose in the situation.

Are there insurance companies that don’t require health screenings?

Or would you recommend maybe just getting a very short term policy and paying the higher premium and then when I am skinnier getting a new policy that would hopefully have a better premium?

My concern with the latter is that I also know the older you are, the more expensive the premiums are so I almost feel like if I bought a 5 year policy that when the 5 years passes and I buy a policy to replace it, that I’ll be paying just as much as fat me because I am now skinny old me instead of fat young me.

I know I could just wait until I’m skinny and rely on my work policy in the meantime.

I’m not a super fan of that option as my work policy is only 200k and I’d like more coverage than that. Any other suggestions I’m not thinking of?

Because those are the only 3 I’ve come up with.

I am sure someone out there will be upset I refer to myself as fat and say I can lose weight and be skinny instead.

I know there are nicer ways I could refer to myself like “I am in my big body” vs saying I am fat.

That is the truth of the matter even if you think I should phrase it another way.

I am here for finding the least sucky solution to my problem cause all answers suck presently.

Your your age is important. Also another relevant question
What is the purpose of buying insurance? Do you have a spouse or kids you are trying to provide for?

If you think you need a policy to take care of loved ones, please get one without delay.

You don’t have to die for it to become too late.

My work policy lapsed because of a paperwork issue.

I tried to address it, kept running into issues, eventually it was just a few weeks till open enrollment was coming around again so I waited.

Diagnosed with brain cancer 2 weeks before open enrollment in 2015.

Term policies a no go for the rest of my life and work policies greatly limited in coverage compared to what I could get before.

Don’t put it off! Get it now, see about getting a lower premium later.

As a person who helps people purchase term life insurance policies, depending on the weight a person would need to be GROSSLY overweight in order for it to make a difference.

Even if it’s a no medical exam policy, they will still ask height and weight plus medical questions, and it’ll be more expensive per thousand in face amount.

In the policies I offer, people are able to have medical rechecked to get a lower premium if qualify for a standard medical rating if previously rated.

              I would just do it
I called policy genius, was hoping I would lose more of the baby weight
no sense in getting only a 5 year you could always cancel.

              Just apply now.

I got $67/month with banner life.

I actually went with a higher $ that included a child rider at my typical bank USAA so it may not even matter what you choose it may not be the least expensive anyways.

When I went through my evaluation they graded me on all the things and put me in a policy cost wise from my rating.

Overall they looked at age to start and end the policy and risk to payout.

So, I’d consider this as well.

I opted for a 20 year and figured I’d self insure after that point.

We are in our early 40s and got 20-year policies recently without exams through Policygenius.

The plans are underwritten through Banner Life.

I didn’t have to get a medical exam but you still have to list your height and weight and they pull all of your medical records anyway to verify.

A lot of it has to do with smoking/tobacco use. See what quotes you get.

There are only about 4-5 health categories.

I wouldn’t do a no exam policy as people have had experiences with no payout or them not wanting to pay out.

They are risky and with good reason.

I have term and someone who is no BS and these no exam policies have lots of exceptions or conditions people don’t read and if you are withholding being overweight etc you are basically giving away free money to them.

If it sounds too good to be true it often is.

This sadly happened to a friend of mine’s parent who preached about the no exam.

When they passed the insurance wanted a full medical history and I believe they didn’t disclose something that led to their death and the policy was null.

They were all about getting your business until it’s time to pay out.

I would chat with a broker who can show you multiple options, exams and no exams.

You can always let a term policy go if you get a new, better one, later.

PS “no exam” doesn’t mean they will offer everyone a policy, there are some screening questions still.

I am a fan of getting insurance now because you never know when something will come up that makes you uninsurable.
