To those who are still in a rat race.
Does anyone experience lower business profits or more difficulties to find a job in this economy? This year has been tough for our business. We increased employees’ the salaries but have less sales.
We are still ok, but haven’t been able to achieve our profits and investment goals this year.
SamuelI was laid off 6 weeks ago, finding a job is much more difficult. I used to get dozens of voicemails from recruiters, but not anymore.
Now I’m calling them and they’re struggling to find anything, even at lower pay.
Inflation has steadily been eating away at my savings rate for years. Now I’m burning through my savings.
Pretty sure my FIRE journey is over.
DahianaFrom what I’ve seen, it’s people with advanced education that are having the hardest time finding jobs.
I work tax season every year and I plan to sell insurance on the off-season.
I get a raise every year and I’m high rehired by the same companies.
I could stay year long if I get more professional qualifications.
There is so many customer facing jobs people can just take.
clock in and clock out, but people that are overqualified for these would never take them bc it wouldn’t make sense for them.
AndrewInflation coupled with rising debt costs and above inflation increases by government for reducing services impacts all business as disposable income reduces – its is going to require massive changes to reverse – changes that are politically very unpopular
Aprilmany companies are using AI to weed out applicants before HR even sees the resume.
Many qualified can’t get through the AI process because it will weed out good candidates if there is a key word missing from their resume.
Also, it is tougher to get a job now as it is very competitive all around.
I have seen upwards 200- 500 people applying for one job.
JakubI think it will get worse. Yield curve just uninverted and that rarely signals anything good.
CarolI work in the insurance industry and I have never seen the amount of layoffs this year as in any other year.
Lots of layoffs and people change jobs all over LinkedIn, too.
JoeInflation is still pushing prices up, but from what I’ve seen local businesses are doing well
JoeWe own business in the automotive / recreational towing field.
Business is up in gross numbers but that’s because of inflation.Regardless, I’ve added decent profit sharing for my three employees.
That combined with less gross profits, this year will probably net me a bit less than the last couple of years.
Still thankful for what we have and glad we came give them more.
JoshI’m on track to make about 15% less this year vs last year, in telecommunications sales.
RobThey keep telling us how great the economy is, but the masses are broke.
I’ve noticed way more stuff for sale on the side of the road – cars, boats, travel trailers, motorcycles, ATVs.
People are selling their toys to buy food and gas.
