Homeowner owns 5.7 acres. He only has a house with seperate garage on the land. But wants to earn money on land without increasing property taxes. Is this possible?
Is it possible for a homeowner to generate income on a 5.7-acre property without triggering an increase in property taxes?
I’m interested in creative, sustainable ways to leverage this amount of land for additional income but want to avoid any impact on the tax rate.
Has anyone found effective approaches for similar scenarios or explored unique methods for maximizing land use without the financial drawbacks?
Any insights on regulations, zoning considerations, or low-impact land use ideas would be especially helpful!”
DavidYou can if it’s used as agricultural land, check with your country property appraiser in the US, if the property is zoned for agricultural, the owner can potentially rent the land for agricultural, and get property tax exemption for it too
IanIf people would spend as much time increasing their income as they do trying to avoid taxes they would have a lot more zeros in their bank account.
“No no no, don’t pay me more. That means I would have to pay more taxes!”
It’s penny wise and pound foolish.
ShaunDepends on zoning, RV or Tiny Homes on wheels work but you would need services such as electric, water, and sewage.
Alternatively you could do it hidden quite easily for tiny homes as most need a location and can’t get one but that’s a short term thing as you will eventually get found out.
AngeloRent a parking space, rv storage maybe.
If you add any apartment, bedrooms, etc… It will likely increase the tax valueClayIf you increase the productive value of the property – you increase it’s value.
There are far to many local variables regarding if the local jurisdiction will assess those taxes to provide strategy based on such little information.
JeremyIncome from anything is going to increase taxes but there are ways to reduce those taxes.
PaulDifferent towns and different states and different countries have different laws about what you can do on your land.
It all depends on your particular situation.
And your particular skill sets.
