Can we max out both family and individual HSA limits with dual HDHPs?

I am having trouble finding the answer to this. Myself and my husband both have an HDHP plan. One covers themselves and the children because it is much more affordable and the other has an HDHP with single coverage.

In this situation, can the family HSA plan be maxed out as well as maxing out the single person’s HSA coverage limit?

We are wanting to fully fund for 2025 but have not carried coverage like this before and want to ensure we make no errors.

I assume the kids are young? When you have young adult kids that are no longer claimed on your taxes but still on your insurance, they can also contribute the family max into their own HSA.

Mine are 22 and 24 so they can each have their own HSA and contribute the family max into each of theirs and we can do the family max into ours.

Odd I know but kind of a loophole I guess

Spouses share the overall limit. Getting a second policy does not increase the overall limit when one spouse already has a family HDHP and no other coverage (I’m assuming everyone is under age 55, that can add some wrinkles).

You are considered a unit as a married couple and are limited to the total family contribution for the year.

You can split the amount up if you want though.
