Would you buy as a hoopdie?
It has a clean title and carfax, regularly maintained, and 3 prior owners.
ChrisDepends on the test drive, maintenance records, and what my mechanic says. I have no problems buying a car with 190k (I’ve bought cars with more miles than that). As long as the price/expected longevity ratio is right, I’ll buy anything.
I actually have a formula I follow. Purchase Price + Probable Maintenance Costs / Expected Miles Driven should equal 0.10 or less. If this Lexus had no major maintenance due, I would expect to get 60,000 relatively trouble-free miles from it at that price. Can you get this Lexus up to 250k? I say yes if it’s properly maintained.
Martin(BS7) How has the maintenance been over the history of the car? Any car with higher mileage will have maintenance and repair expenses.
ChicagoIt sounds ok to me, good brand. Last October, my daughter purchased a 2010 Lexus RX 350 with 166K miles and it ran great and is still a fantastic purchase. If you can have the current owner let you have a mechanic take a look at it before committing to the purchase, do that for your own protection.
Also, make sure you find out the last time it passed an emissions test, this is a must-do whenever purchasing a used car!!
LarsenMy 2004 Lexus GX is going strong. Watch YouTube to find out which maintenance items come up around that mileage and check records to see if any have been completed. I dunno about the IS but the LS runs to 400k.
EliseSounds fine. Other than that, would need to see the ad to determine potential red flags, review CarFax, and all the other stuff. We had a Toyota with 315k miles. For me, it really depends on service history, number of owners, and overall condition of car. Lot of owners usually equates to many people experience issues with it.
