Is anyone else a fan of Mr. Money Mustache or similar personal finance bloggers? I’ve been reading Mr. Money Mustache’s blog and find his approach to financial independence and frugal living inspiring. I’m curious to know if others follow his advice or if there are other bloggers with a similar message that you would recommend.
Can anyone share their thoughts on Mr. Money Mustache’s blog or recommend other bloggers who offer valuable insights on achieving financial independence and living frugally?
Any recommendations or insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!
SteveFor FIRE bloggers I find the most famous ones a little dishonest, sort of. They will say something like “I retired with $2M net worth 10 years ago and you can too”. They fail to mention that they still work on marketing and updating their blogs (work does not equal retirement) and most importantly that those blogs bring them sometimes more money than their jobs prior to so called retirement.
So, they’re not really living off of $2M or whatever that number is.
This is not aimed at Mr Money Mustache specifically.
Just a general observation.
ChrisI frequently reference his Savings Rate article. It is the most valuable part of his blog. The case studies are entertaining and marginally useful.
AndrewIdk reading blogs is a tough practice for me to get excited about. I much prefer books, audiobooks, and podcasts.
Not sure why, but I just don’t have any desire to get into blogs which is unfortunate since nearly every impactful FIRE personality has one.
ThaiYes just got into his blogs, it’s like finding someone who thinks exactly like me, but with far more experience and knowledge to give, each post is a gem.
KatrinaYes! I agree with most things but I’m not on board with his devotion to the bicycle. It’s not feasible for most of us.
KatieI haven’t been reading him recently I got out of the habit because he wasn’t posting frequently. I did really enjoy his perspective and that he wasn’t trying to market anything.
AaronUsed to read him a lot but not in years. It is nice to be retired and have a 6-figure income from a blog! Doing it well.
KatieLove it but he doesn’t post much anymore. His articles are unique and brilliant. There is a whole community worth following so find something that works for you.
ShaunI love MMM. I read many FIRE blogs, listen to many FIRE podcasts. I’ve had the privilege of meeting many of these people IRL. They are great, authentic folks just wanting to share what they’ve learned from their lives and sound money management.
I’ve taken many of these concepts into my own life and it has benefited me greatly.
