I’ve been contemplating diversifying my income streams and the idea of venturing into the Airbnb hosting space has piqued my interest. Given the popularity and potential of this platform, I’m keen to understand the experiences of those who have chosen this path.
For individuals who have delved into Airbnb hosting, whether as a supplementary side hustle or as their primary source of income: Can you share insights about your journey with Airbnb? What have been the challenges, rewards, and key learnings from hosting? Understanding the nuances, potential returns, and day-to-day realities of this endeavor would be invaluable as I weigh the feasibility and potential of becoming an Airbnb host.
CorySide hustle here – international in Panama.
ErickMany of us. I prefer real estate over the stock market for many reasons. We have 3 STR’s and they net $60k/year combined.
We’ve got a few other long-term rentals too that allowed us to “retire” early.
KyraI have 3, soon to be 4. We use it as our main source of income. We own the properties and clean them ourselves. Which keeps all cost low.
Otherwise, you may need more Airbnb rentals.
EvanUnfriendly regulatory environment in many previously lucrative localities and the level of market saturation for STRs makes this riskier than it used to be. Do your homework and due diligence before taking a financial step in this.
I wish you all the best if you do it and I absolutely love investing in real estate, but prefer the more boring and stable avenue of multifamily.
Returns are not as flashy but are less prone to significant swings, in price and especially demand.
BorisYup I AirBnB my primary. Getting 70% occupancy in a very walkable part of Cincinnati.
RachaelYep. 2 properties on the Oregon Coast. They generate enough cash flow for my family of 7. We have other investments as well but none of them do as well as these 2 homes.
It can be done!
BrianYep, It’s my main income. Invest in things that pay you monthly!
8% stock market returns that you can’t touch til 57.5 is a broken model if you really want FI.
