Does it sound grinchy to offer time instead of gifts for Christmas?

I have been unemployed for over a year and recovered from a fall/fracture. I am thankful for my savings to hold me over. With Christmas coming I don’t plan to buy or give anything.

My gift is my time spent with you doing something together, helping you with something.

Does that sound grinchy? My car payments car insurance utilities groceries etc is a lot

I would love this, instead of ‘stuff’. I can buy my own stuff!

No, it doesn’t. It sounds like you are prioritizing taking care of yourself during hard times.

People who truly care about you want to see you happy and succeed above all else.

Happy nemories are the best gift I can think of.
          Have a wonderful holiday!

Most people I know would greatly appreciate the offer of some help. Two people make many things much easier, like hanging curtains

Spending time with someone & having a visit with them is priceless. You can’t put a price on that.

Honestly, that sounds like such a thoughtful thing to “gift”. Being able to watch a movie, bake some cookies, drink cocoa, and chat with someone I care about is far more meaningful to me than receiving a knick-knack.

I think your head and heart are in exactly the right place

Time together is a wonderful gift. You could always do cards if you wanted to have something physical to give.

That sounds fine. My sister’s husband was laid off in the middle of the year, so they’re both unemployed, I don’t want anything from them material wise.

Anyway we’re adults, so Christmas is just a chore now, it’s not like it is for the kids.

I lost my job this summer and took me 90 days (give or take) to find another one that matched my competition.

I’m still playing catch up with my goals and have decided to skip buying presents this holiday season.

It is a wise choice, focus on what’s best for you!

Not grinchy! If you decide you do want to do something cookies are always a nice treat. It always makes my day when my friends bake me a little snack

I’m older, and would be more than happy to have someone come over and help with something. It would be far better than a purchased gift.
