Hello everyone, I’m curious to know if anyone here has purchased a car from a car rental company instead of a traditional dealership. How does this buying experience compare to getting a car from a dealership? Specifically, I’m interested in hearing about:
- The overall condition and quality of the car you bought from the rental agency.
- The pricing differences and any hidden costs you encountered.
- The customer service experience during and after the purchase.
- Any additional insights or tips for someone considering this option.
Your feedback and personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
HelenI bought one years ago; Hertz Rental; my parents bought several through the years. We were told each vehicle interior was throughly cleaned after each use; they were serviced on a very precise schedule.
My car was in excellent condition; wouldn’t hesitate purchasing one again.
SonjaMy daughter did. Got a great deal.
MollyI have not personally bought from a rental place, but I’d be concerned about the wear and tear on it since it had possibly hundreds of different drivers vs 1-2 previous owners from a dealership.
If the price is right though and you get it checked out by a mechanic (not theirs), I’m guessing you could get a good deal.
ShirleyI have never done it. But I had friends that bought all their cars from Enterprise. When they got ready to buy another one they donated the old one and got a tax deduction. Win-win.
CoraWe bought a year old car for a big discount. That was in 2017 and we’re still driving it.
SaraMy mum bought a one year old Jaguar from Enterprise Car Sakes it had less than 10k miles on it. 19 years later she runs like a baby, gets compliments everywhere and has 191k miles on the original engine. The mechanic said it will easily hit 300k.
The cost to run and maintain this luxury car is less than an inexpensive import imo.
Jo JonesOne of my good friends fathers works for a rental place. All of their cars come from them.
LindaMy friend has purchased numerous, fully loaded with no issues. She puts a lot of miles on them as well. I have never heard anything negative on any of her purchases.
