Recently, we’ve been having trouble settling a bill with a hospital for a year. They were refusing to bill our insurance company, claiming to us that my husband’s legal name did not match his name on his insurance card that he has had for about 28 yrs without a problem.
It was a matter of an initial. I contacted my state rep to see if there were complaints about this hospital, and she told me about a State Medical Advocate.
Within two weeks, that Advocate had gotten results when we couldn’t. So, if you are having trouble with medical bills, seek out assistance from a State Advocate if your state has one.
They know the laws, and will hold medical and insurance “companies” accountable.
AliceThe hospital should have just billed the insurance with the name on the card, if that is what you have been using all this time.
Tinayes, I had to contact my state insurance advocate and it took a month for them to take of it.
JudyMany insurances health insurance companies were hacked awhile ago. Hospitals, insurance, doctor’s offices, etc were affected, and they are cracking down on fraud.
It’s affecting everyone
