I need a cheap/no cost (frugal) way to extend my home wifi to guesthouse about 75 feet away.
Tried a HotSpot borrowed from library, but apparently there’s a data plan needed to make that work if I buy one.
Any soluitions greatly appreciated.
CindyMy daughter has a plug in booster that pulls my wifi about 100 feet to her 5th wheel
JonLook into a Wi-Fi mesh network. It involves multiple Wi-Fi receiver/transmitters that link together.
75 feet should not be a problem.
Probably cost you a couple of hundred dollars, but they work really well.
Don’t cheap on it and buy a well-known brand.
KodyWe use 2 boosters/extenders in our house because of all the brick and cement.
AnnieI bought a plug in wifi extender. Not sure how much one would be for the signal to make it that distance, but it would be a one-time expense.
RachelYou can get a little plug in booster for around $20ish. Not sure if it will work 75 feet away though.
I spent the money on eero mesh, a few hundred, but whole house and 1100 sf pole barn are covered.
DarlaOur provider has ‘booster pods’ that we received at NO CHARGE (up to 3) so we could include our external security cameras.
The just plug into our outlets.
The tech stuff is in the middle of the house on the 2nd floor so we needed the pods to boost our signal.
No issues and it it’s been at least 5 years since we installed them.
Tinaif you are advertising that you have wifi and are renting out that space to someone make sure it is reliable.
I have a friend who was living in a home apartment situation in Gainsville FL while going to school there and the lady he rented from said he was going to have internet all the time.
He did not and ended up going out to where there were wifi networks all the time just so he could do homework and study.
It was quite inconveinment for him.
He did this for 3 years while in medical school.
LisaIf the library hotspot accepts a SIM card, you can purchase one from someplace like Mint Mobile.
You can buy a 5GB/month plan right now for 3 months for $45.
Lots of other plans to choose from
AliceSome extenders ask all about what the signal goes through or walls and type of walls
AnjiWe have a booster at our house and then unit at our work, 20 yards away and works great!
