I am trying to make simple but beautiful centerpieces for the tables at a church event.
I think I can get small vases for really cheap on marketplace but wondered if you had any tips or tricks, especially for cheaper but nice fake flower arrangements?
We hope to use these once a month all year.
Thank you!!!
TesseAsk the congregation for their vases. Most folks have several
PatriciaWhy not post in your local Not for Sale group asking for the cases and flowers?
Those are both things people have laying around because they planned on using them
PatI saw some of those twig wreaths decorated for winter
With just a few small fake birds and few branches sticking up.You could add snow or seasonal items.Thrift shops a usually have too many vases.
Might discount or give to you if you explain it is for church.
The vases can be spray painted, or different
Colors could be nice. Could use real
Fall leaves I’m them ,pine sprays in winter, add some Valentine’s or bunny’s in spring and fresh flowers in summer.
Wreaths quite often at the thrifts, plus lots of people have them At home and could donate.
SarahAsk for any flowers or vases on any free groups or in the congregation I’m sure people will be happy to help
CherylRepurpose tin cans or mayo jars. I’ve seen beautiful ones made using rope, beads, paint, etc.
Pretzel cans make a nice tall centerpiece. Cover with coordinated gift wrap.
Use floral foam inside containers for stability.
Use lots of greenery, change out flowers for seasonal usage.
Start buying mini Christmas trees at yard sales.
Can spray paint, decorate with any seasonal items, Easter eggs to footballs!
VictoriaDollar stores in our area have nice fake flowers. Also have vases and tin decor.
SarahMason jars with burlap and any greenery around. Evergreen in winter
NancyHydrangeas are in full beautiful bloom in my area. I have done a wedding and later a funeral with hydrangeas.
I stripped my big shrub then asked on my local buy nothing group and some neighbors let me pick theirs.
LucindaAsk on your local Buy Nothing group. So many people get vases with their arrangements and hold onto them.
They would probably be happy to give them a home.
Alternatively, use quart mason jars or other heavy glass jars (spaghetti sauce, mayo, pickles sometimes come in good jars).
RebeccaThe dollar tree is a great place to get little glass boxes or plastic ones and to get a variety of flowers and to make centerpieces I would try there
PascalAsk your local Buy Nothing group if people have some faux flowers they’d like to donate.
Other option is buying a few really nice flowers and use free, real greenery from your yard, or neighborhood.
ElizabethA to Z Alma Arkansas has a wonderful selection of inexpensive floral (order online), check marketplace or your local recycling center for Mason jars or cans
DianaBuy neutral colors only! Then for each new month, add POPS of color for that month.
Oranges/browns for Sept/Oct.
Then Thanksgiving colors for Nov, Christmas colors for Dec.
You catch my drift.
But with whites and tans and neutrals as your base, you can add colors and themes throughout the year.
CynthiaBelieve it or not some dollar stores have amazingly good silk flowers.
RobinIf you see silk flower arrangements at the thrift store, buy them. When you get home, take them apart and swish the flowers around in soapy water.
Rinse well and find somewhere for them to air dry.
You can acquire a lot of silk flowers for a very reasonable price this way.
