Any advice about finding cheaper prices on contact lenses? I always look around for the cheapest price, but this year the *cheapest* I could find for a year’s supply of the brand I need was $1000.

I can’t go to a cheaper brand because I need multi-focal lenses; I can’t just use glasses because glasses strain my eyes

(I’ve had bad eyesight for 42 years and have tried multiple different doctors and eyeglasses, so it’s not a matter of find a better doctor or better prescription); and I’ve looked into vision insurance, but vision insurance covers only a pittance ($150) towards contact lenses, which is less than the cost of the insurance itself.

1-800-contacts is where I got mine until I had my surgery. Best prices I had found.

Have you checked into Costco and Sam’s? I don’t use contacts but their prices for progressive lens glasses are better than anywhere else I’ve found.

            Is Lasik an option?
I got mine done and it should last me until my eyes change again with old age.

Now I just pay for eye drops, which is cheaper in the long run than lenses / contacts were all the time.

Plus my eyes aren’t as tired at night.

1-800-Contacts. They will price match anyone. Usually Costco is cheapest, so I always ask them to price match Costco. Ships right to your door.

Your best resource is a good relationship with your eye care professional. Ask your doctor if a different lens might cost less.

You might also inquire about monofit wear (one for distance, one for near) which many people wear successfully and is definitely more affordable than multifocal lenses.

Whatever you do, make sure you clean and dispose of them as directed.

Overwearing can damage your eyes permanently, so that’s never a good choice to save money.

I worked at an optometry practice for a long time. We would price match to 1800 Contacts, but we were also an Acuvue Preferred Provider and therefore were able to offer a pretty solid rebate program to people who bought a year’s supply.

It’s been a few years since I’ve worked in-office so I’m unsure what the exact prices would be, but if that’s the brand you use then I’d try looking up a preferred provider in your area and checking prices through them.

I hope you find something more affordable!

I go through Lensdirect or Sams club. I developed a chart to keep track of the companies and their prices.

This year, I asked my eye doctor if he could match the prices I get from these other companies.

He did. He also had me do a refund through Acuvue.

Costco is usually the cheapest, 2nd cheapest is 1800 contacts . There are monthly multifocal lenses that are cheaper than 1,000.00.

Cooper vision makes biofinity multifocal lenses monthly & Bausch & Lomb Ultra for presbyopia is another that is cheaper as well.

When I wore contacts they were the best price at Sam’s, even having to pay to join. Glasses are less at Walmart.

Ask your provider if they have rebates or coupons for your brand.

You only have your eyesight once. Please don’t be frugal in this area. I got contacts once from Walmart. They gave me the wrong strength.

I’m certain it did not make my horrible eyesight any better.

Do you live near an Optometry school? They usually have research studies and supply you with the contacts.

I usually use Sam’s Club. But recently I tried “Webeyecare”. They had several discounts and they have a reward program.

I placed my order on Sunday & had it by Thursday.

I just bought a year supply of Acuvue multi focal contacts from 1800contacts. Paid $409. Got Acuvue $50 rebate.

Got $40 from Rakuten. Got $105 from vision insurance. Net cost $214.

Lenses are the 2 week ones but I stretch them longer so this bunch lasts longer than a year.

Suck it up and purchase what you need and be frugal with your purchase. Sometimes being frugal means buying the best value not just the cheapest
