What can I do better?
Age: 32
401k: $54,000
Roth IRA: $45,000
Brokerage: $200,000
HYSA: $20,000
HSA: $10,000
Checking account: $4000
Debt: none
Property: noneHousing: renting apartment ($850 a month)
Housing bills: ($200 a month)Car insurance payment: $75 a month (w/ no car payment)
Yearly salary: $84,000Goal: I want to retire early (age 50?) and I’d like to eventually buy a home.
Not sure if we’d like kids or if I can afford them
I’m sharing an apartment with my partner.Combined we are paying $1700 a month we live in AZ.
Still feel like I’m living like a ‘college student.
How I did it? I did not do this on my own. When a family member died I inherited $30,000 when I was about 24.
I went to a community college and then really affordable undergraduate for the rest of college.
I’m first generation so my parents are super frugal and that’s what I learned when I get money I never spend it.
Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.
NicoleYou don’t have much saved if you want to buy a house and you should save more into your 401
SteveLooks great. Keep it up, don’t change a thing… especially the not married status.
TiffanyYou’re doing wonderfully. Better will be subjective, what are your goals? Buy a house? Retire at a certain age? Etc.
Knowing these will help you determine what direction you take to move closer to it.
ScottNot much!! You’re looking really solid relative to your income. I’d shift from contributing to your brokerage to making sure you’re contributing up to match in your 401k and maxing out your Roth every year.
You might want to start thinking about buying a place with all of the money in that brokerage account.
