Ok, I have scrapped as much as I could. I live off of $914.
      Rent $197
      Tithes $90
      AT&T Internet $60
      GEICO $196.02
      Saving $32
      Credit card $80
      Car payment $80
      Loan $85
      Gas (car) $50

      Monthly living Total: $870.02
Net monthly after canceling, etc. $43.98

I’m looking to lower my GEICO, and Internet bills.
I still have not budgeted yet for electric or gas.

My equal payment plan for electric ended and it is SOO much higher than usual (over $300) so I am looking to non profits to help and get back on the equal payment plan.

I cancelled Cricket for SafeLink to save $65 a month. I was going to use that to do the snow ball method and apply it to my loans to pay them off.

Any recommendations for lower auto insurance and Internet?

A tithe can be donating time, talent or treasure. I think you should consider tithing time and/or talent until you’re on stronger financial footing.

And while I believe in tithing, you need to eat. The church should be helping you, not taking your money.

If that church knows your financial situation and takes your tithe instead of helping you, that isn’t a church I would want to be a part of.

I agree to stop tithes and give your time or in other ways.
I used an insurance broker to find my insurance.

Rates are high everywhere because of all of the natural disasters.

So, you don’t have a phone? If you do call around and bundle with Internet. Most have a deal for a year.

Then you call just before it ends to look for another deal.

I use APPS to get money- if you have a smart phone- it isn’t much at the time but it adds up!

I have gotten around $30-$70 a month sent to my PayPal for doing it.

Shop around for lower auto insurance. Have your current policy in front of you and then just fill out a quote form on several provider’s websites.

                Try esurance as an example.

For internet, find out what plan you are on.

If you dont have anyone living with you you can generally use a much smaller plan to save money.

I respect you for tithing even though you are pinching pennies.

To those that say to not tithe- tithing can be an act of faith, something they may not be willing to stop doing, and I support that decision.

I have always tithed, even through lean times. We never went hungry or couldn’t pay our bills.

What is your age or are you on assistance? If you are on any type of assistance then you can get reduced or free phone and internet services.

If you are elderly you can get reduced cable and phone plans.

I don’t agree with not tithing. You are giving back to God your tithe on what he had given to you.

Can you make extra money woofrom home? Door dash? Good luck

If you have a Farm Bureau, check on insurance with them. I switched and saved a lot of money.

As for electricity, Google your area to see if there is a LIHEAP energy assistance program.

You would definitely qualify, and they would help pay some of your heating bill for winter, and some places help in the summer as well.

I also agree with tithing your time. I know churches are having a really hard time getting people to volunteer to help anymore, so they might welcome the help.

I understand why you’re tithing and respect your dedication to it.

At least temporarily until you can get other bills lowered, or gets some debt paid off, that would be a good trade.

Try State Farm for car insurance. We had been with Geico for years, no tickets or accidents and they just kept climbing up.

Finally changed insurances last month saving over $60.00 a month.

I have been in the insurance industry for 11 years. Geico & Progressive have the best rates.

Not that anyone wants to begin dropping coverage but when a client comes to me to lower their cost of insurance I always recommend removing under/uninsured motorist coverage if they have full coverage.

If you have full coverage your car is covered no matter what happens. I also recommend increasing your deductibles.

Depending on the state you are in there are things that you play with on your policy.

If you would like to send me a screenshot of your coverage I am happy to help you.

Try Progressive. I just got done with a three month search for lower insurance. And they were the best.

Please continue to tithe (money) and reach out to your church. They have a responsibility to assist their parishioners too.

Ok. Moving on now. The snow ball on the loan is a good idea. Examine the insurance bill. See if you can up the deductible.

If y have any extras on there like roadside assistance, towing or rental take that off as well.

If you have been w them for a while explain you are looking to reduce your bill- if you are on the lowest rung some time they can still shave off $10-15.

Give it a try.On the internet- where do you live? If in a senior place – see if they have wi fi and if it might work in your unit – that may be free or a small fee.

We had geico, went to progressive and saved a bunch, they even have a gadget that goes in your vehicle for a short time to track your driving such as speed, hard breaking etc…

gave us a huge discount and it didn’t have to stay in long at all

                                    I pay $15/mo for T-Mobile unlimited pre-pay.
Shop for auto insurance or find a broker to shop for you.

Unless you have tickets or multiple drivers on your policy, you’re paying about 50% too much!
