Looking for info on 1031 exchanges. Has anyone done one for equity not another property. What type of professional works out that deal, finance person, lawyer, tax guy who? Please provide any details you can only if you’ve actually done one I need in practice not in theory to try to make a decision.
ArunLots of post on 1031 if you do a search. People have had different experiences. My tax advisor is not a fan of it.
TaylorI don’t think you can 1031 into a publicly traded REIT. Needs to be a DST and it acts like a stock but really it’s a TIC interest.
There are professionals that operate in this realm called Qualified 1031 Intermediaries.
JanelleYou will need a 1031 exchange intermediary and a good real estate attorney.
CoreyI have completed two 1031 exchanges… but I don’t understand what you are asking. What do you mean for equity and not another property?
You need to purchase another property, or at least invest in another property.
It can be as a small investor in a larger deal.
MollyIt’s hard to get your cash out of some of the alternatives…your intermediary Must have insurance, there’s lots of court cases of some who just took off with the cash they were holding.
