Every time I buy a new zippered hoodie, the fabric starts pilling within 2 weeks.
I don’t buy the cheapest hoodies, but I don’t buy the most expensive ones either.
Is there anything proactive that I can do to prevent that?
TinaBuy 100% cotton. Those usually don’t pill, but it’s difficult to find them + more expensive.
Buy lint shaver.
JeanneI have been not putting them with jeans or towels…. also inside out
RodelleNot sure if you are going to stop it but you can take a shaver and shave it off.
AncellaLook for 100% cotton for a hoodie. Check out the tag with the fabric composition of the ones that are pilling.
It’s probably 60% cotton 40% polyester.
That fabric composition is the bane of my existence. Also, rayon is annoying.
BethSeat belt rubbing on fabric can cause pilling – I ruined a bunch of tshirts that way.
MicheleHow many times did you wash it in 2 weeks? Jean zipper can snag on it and fuzzies from towels can transfer.
I suggested less washing and do separate or with other cotton fabric s
SusanI think one of the big things we need to ask is, how are you washing it. Are you washing in hot water or cold water, hot dryer, medium dryer, etc…
ClaryOften the pulling comes from having polyester in the fabric. A 100% cotton Hoosier shouldn’t pill up.
CameronCarhartt there certain fabrics don’t pillow there spendy but last a long time
Fabrics that pillow will continue to do so might try a fabric blend of polyester cotton
JoanMake sure anything with a zipper is zipped all the way up and turn them inside out. If you’re doing large loads of laundry, the friction may be making them pill.
If you don’t want to hang dry them out of the washer, let them partially dry in the dryer, then hang them in a well ventilated area to dry the rest of thr way.
If you don’t have the space to hang them up, they should be fine in the dryer.
Keep them zipped and turned inside out.
