Hey Frugal Fam! I need your help! I’m located in Lincoln, NE. I live with my dad and he has basic cable, Wi-Fi and our landline(I know, he’s old fashioned) but our bill is $300/month! Did I mention he’s the only one in the house who watches cable and only on one tv downstairs? Is there anyways we can get this cheaper? We go through Spectrum! The landline isn’t the problem we were told that’s only $6/month. My dad refuses to do Hulu, Netflix ect. Please help. Anyone live in Lincoln NE that knows of good deals with cable?

Did you look at the bill to see what all exactly he is paying for? There could be stuff on there to cancel. You can call Spectrum tell them you are switching to a different service & ask if the account is eligible for any retention discounts

Call and negotiate. See if you can opt for lower speed of wifi. Find out if they are charging for things like HBO or Showtime, and if he doesn’t watch those, cut them.

Ask for a detailed bill, and tell them you’ll look elsewhere for a cheaper plan, and see if they’ll work with you to lower it.

I have cable, internet and a landline with Spectrum for half that amount. I am on a promo rate though (but I know it’s not a 50% discount!). Definitely look at the bill for extra charges and call to see what deals may be out there for him.

It is his home and it is what he does. Is he going to collection? See if you can check the bill and question the cost. Why change? He may not be comfortable with change. Did he ask you to do this? If not he is an adult and you are overreaching.

All I watch is Netflix…. I love NCIS, Blue Bloods, and Monk… I also stream French Music on my phone and tablet.

I hated giving up cable their equipment screwed up I went to hulu live basically same as cable has all the channels plus some can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner and under $100 just do it you’ll never look back but do need internet

You can get hundreds of free channels with a Vizio Tv. They cost around $300 to $500 depending on the size you get. Since I’ve given up cable and started streaming tv on the Vizio tv I’ve been saving about $2500.00 yearly.

I have a WAL-MART + subscription so Paramount + is free in addition to all the other channels. If you happen to have an Amazon Prime subscription a lot of the Prime shows and movies are free too
