I am about to probably lose my job, please don’t ask about it. It’s not confirmed yet but I’m at least 80% sure.
I have a bit of debt and I’m planing on paying it right away with my next check, I have a bit of savings maybe will be okay for couple of months but still really scary being on this situation.
To my knowledge I still have a job for now and I just want to focus on that so I’m just trying my best to stay calm.
Please don’t tell me to start looking around for jobs because I just want one last Sunday of peace until it hits (if it does) on Monday.
Any ideas to just relax and letting it go for now? I thought that just writing about will help, and it helped a little.
Just a remainder to focus on saving money, paying off your debts and not job for more stable it looks it’s going to always be there.
MayraHi there! When something important is taken away from me, I find peace in trusting that God will replace it with something better, on His own timing.
Then all of the sudden, the worry fades away and I look forward to whatever God has in store for me.
Now, there is an additional key step; you do all you can within your power to help yourself and then you accept the outcome.
God is indeed the best of planners, always assume well of your Lord, He will always give you better than whatever you lose.
NicTomorrow will bring what it will bring. There is no job listing available today that won’t be available tomorrow if needed. Breathe, enjoy your weekend.
None of us really know what is going to happen tomorrow, and whatever it does bring, you’ll find a way through.
That’s just how life is.
I hope you’ll find some brightness and a silver lining if clouds do come your way
DebieIf you lose ur job u may only want to pay minimum payments until u get another job.
MarcyTry not to stress over something you can’t control if it does happen, you’ll face it
PatriciaAlways have that emergency fund for six months expenses.
RandiDo something you love—spend time with family or friends, make art or do something crafty, bake/cook, listen to your fave music and dance hard and sing it loud, get outside and walk around—whatever will bring you joy!
AnnetteDo you meditate? That helps me not overthink. There are a lot of free apps, I use Insight Timer and ignore upgrades that cost, do not need them.
DonnaIf you do lose your job check into your local food pantry for help.
CatherineJust be in the moment. In the present. Enjoy all the small and big blessings that you have to okay…cups of tea/coffee, warm shower, good food, happy moments with family.
Monday isn’t here yet, be IN today. Sending love for South Africa
AnaConsider asking for extensions on your debt so you can concentrate on living expenses till you get back on your feet
KimberlyI know the pain. I am unemployed. The very first thing is to immediately file for unemployment. I’m not sure where you are but I found it helpful to find an unemployed support group.
Here in the Houston area there are a few.
Between Jobs Ministry and Energy Search Work Team are two that I know of in the Houston area.
I am sure there are similar groups in other area’s. Prayers that you keep your job
SaraIf someone has already said this my apologies for repetition but have you tried meditating? When I can really focus on a 10 minute guided meditation it really helps me.
I’m fortunate to live close to the beach so I take a stroll there – do you like to be in nature? Perhaps a walk on a trail or by the beach if you’re close.
Maybe some meditation or jazz music around the house while you have a nice cup of coffee?
PatriciaPersonally, I would not use my last check to pay debt but wait until I had another job.
JessiYou shouldn’t focus on debt if it’s not something that ends in liens or garnishment. Credit cards can wait.
And the longer you have your debt the better your credit anyway.
Make slightly above minimum payments and survive until you find work again.
Be smart about this situation.
You have every opportunity right now to not make this harder for yourself
PatriciaMaybe a nice walk or hike. Doing something active might be helpful. Visit family or friends.
And remember that losing a job is not about you (most of the time) and the job doesn’t define you.
You are a human being. The economy has no compassion, but people do and I understand. It’s going to be ok.
AnaI’ve learned to always stay positive a better thing comes!
I’ve left jobs. Since I been treated poorly.Only to get better ones and better payed (with less work)
As a single mom!
You got thisCarrisaCook yourself your favorite meal, run yourself a hot bubble bath, read a good book or watch a good show (whichever you prefer), go for a walk and soak up some sunshine in nature, visit a local shop that sells candles and buy yourself one that smells the best, go home and light it and just soak up the smell.
Do your favorite things and try to keep your mind occupied with the positives so you can try and allow the negatives to rest for the weekend.
Best of luck to you
ArcadiaWhat is something you enjoyed doing before you got this job? A hobby you engaged in, an interest that you maybe haven’t had time to explore due to your work hours?
Try to do a little of that- whether it’s drawing, writing, or just taking a walk.
I’ve been fired before. It’s not fun, but you will pull through either way.
If you do get fired tomorrow, try to view it as a chance to explore a better opportunity. Take the rest of the day to rest.
Then, on Tuesday, apply for Medicaid. Apply for unemployment as well, even if the boss/HR tells you you’re not eligible (they were wrong in my case).
