Help! My kitchen sink is clogged and I can’t afford a plumber. A glass bowl is sitting on top of the drain hole like a suction cup.

I tried a fork to pry it off, but the water is creating a suction. What can I do? Please and thank you.

Unscrew the drain trap under the sink. The release of pressure might loosen the bowl.

If not you can take a long wooden spoon and push it up from the bottom. Hope it helps.

Ice,will contract the glass bowl smaller. Hot will only make it expand

If the glass bowl is still stuck, use thread or thin wire to get under it o break the suction. Hope that helps!

You.might try emptying out all the water via scooping it out with cups into a.pot, then using a sponge to get the rest out. You won’t have to fight against the vacuum holding the bowl down then.

If you still can’t get purchase on it, try drying it off completely (maybe a hair dryer?) and then fastening something like duct tape to the back to make a good handle to grab and pull.

Wait… Is your sink clogged or is a bowl blocking the drain or both? Is it just the bowl?

Knock that thing off of there or pry it up.

Put ice in the glass bowl. It will shrink a tiny bit. Press your fingers tightly on the inside of the bowl and pull up.

A man can put more pressure if you can get one to help.

If that fails you may have to break the bowl. (I hate when that happens)

Try pouring hot water on the bowl. It will expand and maybe lose the seal.

Tongs… open them and place inside the bowl, open wide and pull straight up, good luck.

You can rent a drain snake from a local hardware store. To unclog your drain FYI it will stink up your kitchen open your kitchen windows make sure you have plenty of old bath towels to clean up the mess

Make sure you hose off really good before you return it to the hardware store.

Fill the sink with water, I would imagine the bowl will then float?

                                  Do you have 1 or 2 basins/plugs?
If you happen to have 2, plunge the open side

I guess break the glass bowl.
About the clogged drain, ours was getting worse and worse.

My husband did the draino thing and the snake thing. Several times.

Wasn’t working. We almost called a plumber.

But hubby found a write up on google – involving boiling water and white vinegar, I think. That did the trick!

                                        Good luck.

Child’s dart with suction cup. Push against bowl to get a grip, then pull gently to lift. Or any suction cups similar to the principle idea.

Look at dollar store hard ware section or kids toy isle

Put the plunger on the whole and push up and down in a couple of times if it doesn’t work, do it again

Which way is it stuck if the flat side is facing upwards
Try using the vacuum hose with no attachments, hold it so it’s flush with the lid or a plunger

                                              Upwards some great suggestions already.

Also try olive oil around the edges and gently trying to break the seal

If you have a garbage disposal try running that briefly while holding the bowl with your fingers on one side.

My disposal seems to initially throw some upward force.
