Need new glasses, have insurance but still can’t seem to get out under $200 in last few visits ( more than a year ago).
Any tips tricks or places I should try? Prescription is ok as is, but frames need replacing.
I’m looking for advice on replacing my glasses frames within a $200 budget, ideally using my vision insurance. Are there any specific retailers, online stores, or tips for ensuring insurance coverage while keeping costs low?
I’d appreciate recommendations or experiences on how to make the most of my insurance benefits in this situation.
TIA!
MarandaGet your insurance to pay for your eye exam, and then at the eye doctor get your prescription. I use Zenni Optical online.
They have frames as low as $7 and I have a regular prescription so I don’t have any additional lens costs.
KendraZenni online. I normally go and get my eyes checked at Shapko and pay 90 without insurance and then take my prescription and get my glasses from Zenni.
KathyAmerica’s Best usually has a deal on 2 pairl
ElizabethWalmart eye center in store. Great selection, sometimes 2 for 1 sales or discounted sales. Some are kinda yuck, but most are great.
They take insurance.
AshleeGet your prescription from the eye doctor and shop around online. Zenni and a few others online are cheaper than in store.
KathleenCall several in your area. They have great deals, like 2 for $89.
Skip.Walmart and Costco much more expensive. Lenscrafters is my.placeDebbieGoggles4U is another online option. I typically spend < $50 for multi focal progressive lenses that darken in the sun. Look for coupons.
CindeIt’s been suggested but want to recommend Zenni, too. Prices are the best for sure, and the selection is extensive.
ChrissyIf you have a prescription, order from Zenni optical online. Less than $20 per pair generally
SunshineGoggles4u is great! W have been ordering from them for several years and have never been disappointed. Sign up for their emails and they often send codes for 70-83% off.
I have paid as little as $8 per pair for prescription glasses. They do take 6-8 weeks to arrive.
At their prices I have a backup pair in each car, upstairs, downstairs, and in my suitcase.
AshleyZenni optical have been using them for years they do a great job with prescriptions and pupillary distance. Do use the upgrades for scratch resistance /uv protection.
I didn’t on a pair and there was a difference.
I think I paid 38.00 for the pair I am wearing in my profile picture.
KimberlyTake your prescription to Zenni Optical online
You can virtually try on your glasses and then put in your prescription and Walla’I was able to get three pairs for the 200 bucks
And those were progressive lensesLizZenni and other online glasses suppliers are WAY cheaper than Costco for glasses.
TerrieCostco. Best prices I’ve found yet for high-index progressive lenses. They also have a nice selection of inexpensive frames.
They also will put new lenses in frames you provide at a minimum charge.
