Tips for using chase rewards points for traveling within Europe? I will be traveling to Denmark for work so my flights from the US to Europe and back will be covered by work.

Very fortunate there. I want to plan to travel to some other places in Europe while I’m there.

I’ve never been to Europe before. I know there are cheap flights or trains to travel between countries.

But are there good ways to use my chase rewards points? Either for travel or for hotels?

      Thanks for any tips!

GOOD STRATEGY- we always use Chase points to travel. BUT, don’t buy directly on the Chase website! Sign up for Air Canada’s Aeroplan rewards.

They are a Star Alliance partner and have the best points deals and offer flights on all

Star Alliance airlines, not just Air Canada.

Transfer the Chase points to the Air Canada Aeroplan account and start searching for reward flights.

Of topic for your question, but if you go to Copenhagen, plan on getting up in the morning with a pastry and a coffee to watch their morning rush hour.

It is a sea of bikes and so different than what is common in the states.

Hyatt is really the best with point redemption. I would join travel on pointsbest advice on point redemptions.

I’m an expert in finding cheap flights to Europe at this point with miles but we have a close friend who works at Marriott and we use their family and friends discount so we never redeem points for hotels.

Traveling within Europe depends on how long you are there, how much free time and if you want to travel via train or plane.

              Each have their advantages.

We typically use Air France (Flying Blue) for flights to/from Europe and sometimes for intra-Europe flights.

It all depends on where we’re going, when, award availability, etc.

AF is a Chase transfer partner, but also a partner of Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles and even the Citi ThankYou program.

I live in Europe and use chase points for hotels all over the I know it’s not the best deal, but I use the points directly with the chase travel awards ‘shop’.

Many of the bigger hotels may not be in the city center and I go more for location. Usually I’ll look on the site and book a hotel while I’m on the way to the destination.

Can’t say I’ve ever been disappointed with anything I’ve booked.

I might be loosing out on a few points by not transferring to major hotel chains, but having a smaller hotel that overlooks a canal in the heart of Venice, another with Normandy beach essentially out my window, etc, means more to me than the savings would.

It’s getting rainy & cold in Northern Europe now. Make sure you pack layers and something waterproof, plus comfortable shoes as most people walk/ride bikes to get around.

                  Enjoy!

                      Some random tips:
European airlines tend to be strict on bag size/weight limits.
                      Also.

many European cities are small enough to use walking as your main form of transportation, and you’ll get such a deeper experience of the city if you walk places.

(Madrid and Amsterdam are two examples.)

Check United and Air Canada for partner flights within Europe (Chase points transfer to both programs).

Or look for Hyatt hotels to stay using points (Chase transfers to Hyatt).
