Hello friends! I’m 29 years old and have around $240K in stocks(mostly index funds), around $170K cash, house is almost paid off (payment with tax, insurance everything is $1,700 per month, $120K left in mortgage @2.6% interest rate), two rental properties paid off(worth $320K each and collects around $3,300 after expenses per month).
I have my own semi truck and make around $7-8K a month after expenses. I wake up at 4:20AM and usually get back home by 3-5pm. I’m starting to hate my job but not sure what else I could do.
I went to Penn State and majored in Finance, had a job as an Underwriter (making $50K per year) for a few years before getting tired of it and quitting in 2021.
I was thinking about starting to look for another corporate job again or start a business (not sure what or how). Or maybe just keeping doing my job even though I don’t like it and continuing to save and invest(I put in $3K in S&P500 each month).
I feel like after I get home from work most of my day is already gone and I’m too tired to go gym and do other activities. Maybe I could go back to school ? Or buy existing business later on ?
I want to do something I enjoy, make good money and allow me get home early or not be completely drained after work.
I appreciate everyone’s feedback!
WesleyWtf am I doing wrong? Lol I’m 31 with a job that pays 100k-175k a year and have a pension and don’t have half that. You must have been taught from an extremely young age or inheritance.
No offense. Lol it’s very impressive.
KennethSo, you worked for a few years at 50k then 100k/year for about 5 years and you have made over 1m?
BrittanyYour numbers are in good shape. If you like the rental thing you could go deeper with that, there’s many ways you could turn that into a full time job.
Sounds like it may be time to reassess your life and start living the way you want to, try a few different things until you find a good flow.
JillSeems like you are on a fantastic trajectory especially with 3k/month
BruceFirstly, nice job getting where you are at. Not many hard working people our age doing a good job with their money in the blue collar world.
I have semi and three dump trucks as well and been building up my hay and excavation businesses doing my own hauling.
Would you be better off buying a dump truck and being more seasonal with better hours? Around me independent 10 wheelers stay busy charging $100/hr.
Don’t know what you are hauling now, but maybe get a lowboy and do localish heavy haul.
That has its own challenges but it’s a thought.
