Looking for some advice, we’ve got a little bit of a unique situation.
My wife and I in our mid 30’s with all our kids under 10 have found it necessary to live a nomadic lifestyle because of the special needs of one of our children.

We are in the process of selling our assets, homes and a business in order to get all of our debt paid off.

We expect to have roughly 1.5- 2 million in cash once everything has been sold.

I am unsure of my ability to make an income remotely and we are trying to figure out the best way to invest this money to give us cash flow enough to support as much of our needs as possible while we figure out the best way to help our child.

What types of investments would you look into in order to try to provide cash flow?

A side note advice- Seriously look into Malaysia (Penang) to start your nomadic experience. You will fall in love.

We have been here for the last 15 months and the expat community keeps growing by the day- excellent healthcare, great education for thr kids, safe, English friendly, 25%ish cost of living vs US etc.

Invest in dividend bearing blue chip stocks and then live off the dividends.

If it’s not too personal, what could be wrong with your child that would actually be improved by living a nomadic lifestyle

Keep a decent chunk in cash/cash equivalents. Like probably 5+ years expenses/anticipated expenses.

That will give you time to figure out your needs, what you need to support your kids etc without having to stress about the money.

Then you can evaluate from there

Read “quit like a millionaire.” She writes about retiring in her early 30s and describes sample portfolios I think that would really help you, she also has a downloadable pdf to accompany the book if you choose to listen so you can get a visual

Strongly advise you to meet with a special needs trust attorney ASAP before you make any big decisions if you have not done so already!

                best wishes on your journey.

Read Timothy Ferris’ book the Four Hour Workweek. Packed with loads of examples of how to do exactly what you’re trying to do.

Best part…you have a great cushion under you

How nomadic? Like RV or other? Aiming to homeschool then may want your base/residency state to be particular for those needs (some are more flexible than others on requirements)

We literally just had a workshop regarding this situation. Special Needs Planning is a unique situation that needs a more custom planning.
If you look up my friend online, Atty.

Gerry Kane (he was featured at Meet the Peetes), he specializes in cases like yours.

I can make an introduction if you’d like.

I don’t have special needs children and not close to your situation other than I have always wanted to try to live a nomadic life as I have some friends who do and found it very practical and more purposeful.

Something like the golden butterfly portfolio that maximizes the safe withdrawal rate
