They’re deft not the most frugal to the point they can easily buy so much at Costco it costs them 1k for one trip for just groceries. We don’t even spend that in a month. However with three of them staying here it does increase our meal planning for the week significantly.
Would you ask them to buy some snacks they want personally to cover themselves for the week? Or how do you try to stay in a savings mode while they’re living with you for a week?
I also usually meal prep but I’m not sure they can handle how I meal prep which means I’ll probably have to cook more often which is killer on my time.
BarbaraI would never stay at anyone’s home without providing groceries and doing my share of cooking, but I have had family spend time at my home who don’t think like I do, it’s very frustrating…
MeaghanMaybe phrase it like this, “so excited to have this big group! Which nights would you like to cook dinner? You pick anything, we’re not picky!” And mention that you’ll buy quick, easy lunch stuff and ask them if they’d be open to buying their snacks and drinks for the week. Maybe?
PaulaHow long are they staying and how important is the relationship? Did you invite them? Or are they just bumming a place to stay? All of that makes a difference!!
MaryA guest is someone who visits for a day or two. Longer than that …contribute to the groceries and the chores. Then it’s…your turn to make a meal plan, cook, and clean up. Do your own laundry too , clean the bathroom too.
AmyI would never ask guests to bring their own food or chip in, unless that was previously discussed or they offered.. Me personally.. I would just suck it up, plan as frugally as I can, but I would definitely be making 3 meals a day. They’re your guests, not tenants..
LoriI wouldn’t invite people to stay with me if I couldn’t afford to feed them while they’re there. Lighten up a little with your meal prep and stressing and enjoy their company… just my thoughts.
