I have a question about barista fire. Does anyone know how many hours a week I would need to work at Caribou Coffee in order to have access to their health insurance?
If it’s like 35 hours a week, I would just stay at my current job longer, but if it’s much less, it’s worth looking into.
Thanks!!
ShawnFor a low wage barista FIRE plan I think you are better off with an ACA plan. This doesn’t work if your income is still relatively high.
Working 20 hours at a service job just for the health insurance sounds terrible to me.
I did it for 6 years without insurance, I wouldn’t go back.
PaulStarbucks used to be 20 hours a week, lm not sure if thats currently true.
JoshA minimum of 30 hours a week over a measurement period of usually 1 year if you’re hired as a variable hour employee.
If you’re hired as a FT employee, than you are eligible after 60 days, you just need to average 30+ hours.
ChristinaHonestly, I would look into ACA, has better plans and at lower incomes you qualify for federal subsidies.
JamesI believe REI offers benefits at 25 hours a week, as well.
HunterLook into Amazon. Part time employees are entitled to all benefits.
