How much do single people spend on groceries? healthy, quick meals.
I’m trying to be more frugal but tend to spend a ton on fresh fruit and veggies that go bad as I don’t like frozen fruit or smoothies. I spend close to 400 a month just for me….
CarolBetter to spend $$ on healthful foods than on medical bills.
BriaunnaWith fresh produce, especially organic, you gotta buy less and more often.
Meat will also definitely run your bill up.
LoriI heard that if you put fruit in a Mason jar in the icebox, it lasts longer
MarlaOh I easily spend 150 a week and I feel like I’m eating terribly. This is not including my Starbucks, DDs coffee, breakfast AND lunches out.
I feel like it’s a never-ending stream of cash and I feel like I’m eating total crap.
I never get to have a nice steak dinner or have a nice huge casserole…
I don’t know where the money goes.
GenMeal plan better. Only buy fresh produce when you have a plan for it.
DuncanIn Europe we tend to buy produce daily or every other day, hence the small size of our fridges, there the size of a dishwasher
NolaWe spend an absurd amount of money on groceries, but we have a house full of food allergies and special dietary needs.
We spend $600 to $800 a month including toiletries and cleaners ect.
TiffanyIt’s easier if you eat the same things for the week so it doesn’t go bad.
I’ll buy one of those tubs of spring mix and it will make 5 mason jar salads for me, so I’m eating salads for 5 days in a row.
I’ll also make a batch of soup for the week and since one batch doesn’t use all the produce I buy for that recipe, I’ll make extra and freeze.
I know you said you don’t like frozen, but soups freeze really well.
Other than that I eat a lot of oatmeal, grains, beans, lentils.
I buy a lot of bananas and if I don’t eat them all I’ll freeze them to make “ice cream “
DebbieSingle. . . I spend around $50/weekly on groceries. I rarely eat out. I eat fairly healthy.
JanI eat healthy as I can. Prep all my food every week. Boil eggs, cook chicken, make egg muffins, slice and clean all my veggies.
That way all my food is ready to eat whenever I want it.
I never buy coffee out because I am way too cheap to pay the price.
I spend about 100 a month but I buy dated meat, use a couple food banks and use the senior farmers market nutrition program every week for fresh veggies.
They give us 100 dollars in coupons. Love the program.
GloriaA wellness class I took recommended buying a roast chicken and always keeping bagged salad in the fridge.
You can do a lot with that chicken. Add to stir fry.
Barbeque sauce. Chicken salad.
I buy a bag of frozen chicken breasts and I always have 1 thawing in the fridge.
I steam vegetables while I cook the chicken breast
AnaI used to spend more .
Now I only use the apps.
& buy based on sales •••
And save a lot of money –
Once in Safeway I paid 2 dollars $
In a fourty dollar check .AshleyMeal plan an shop weekly. That way you know what you are going to eat and nothing goes bad
RidgeI spend $200 a month for all food, cleaning supplies, personal care items and pet supplies.
I compare prices, buy store brands and don’t eat much meat.
Heather$200/$275 per month but that takes work on my end to write out a meal plan and I order pickup via instacart so I’m not tempted to buy stuff not on my list
StephanieI’m not single but I find if I buy fruits and veggies in smaller amounts and make multiple trips a week to the store, I tend to buy less, only what’s on my list, and my produce isn’t being thrown away as often because I eat it before it goes bad.
ReBeccaI’m spending $100 a week at the grocery store. That includes paper products and non-food items. $30-40 a week to eat out.
I buy 10 frozen crock pot meals 3-4 times a year that cost $200. An individual meal is for 4 days lunches.
I, also, buy a meat box twice a year for $250 a box.
So altogether about $158 a week.
KatiI get my 17 year old son every other week and I spend about $550 a month.
I do try to buy organic stuff for like half of my produce.
I also like to get grass fed beef, and dairy.
Not every time, but enough.
I try to eat vegetarian for half of my meals and nearly all my snacks.
DeniseI spend about $300 a month , sometimes less depending on what I have in the pantry.
Also like with pasta I cook 1 cup only and add frozen vegetables.
You can get quite a few meals out of one box of pasta.
