37 with 50k to invest. How would you allocate it? I am opening with Vanguard. VOO? SPY? VTI? VSTAX?
I’m 37 years old and planning to invest $50,000 for the long term. I’m considering opening an account with Vanguard and I’m unsure how to allocate the money across some popular ETFs and mutual funds: VOO, SPY, VTI, or VSTAX.
My goal is to maximize growth while maintaining a reasonable level of risk.
Should I focus on just one of these, or is it better to diversify across multiple options?
What are the key differences between these funds in terms of performance, risk, and expense ratios?
How might my age and time horizon factor into the decision?
Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
RobertI have no idea what any of those acronyms stand for…… But I would just find a index fund that mimics the S&P 500; Dump the entire 50 K in there……
And given your age, forget about it for the next 30 to 35 to 40 years.
DavidThose will all perform practically the same over time. VTI and VTSAX really are exactly the same except one is a mutual fund and one is an ETF.
One of those would be my choice at this time to get some small and mid cap exposure.
Vs the SP 500 ETFs which are all large caps
BrettAll four of those are quite similar in terms of results, and it’s hard to go wrong with any of them.
I like VTSAX, but any of them would be great long term.
AaronMake a plan for how you want to invest in the future then just do whatever that is with this money.
