Any tips for ring around the collar? We invested in some great church button ups for my boys and want to keep them in great shape.

Despite being freshly showered and only wearing them for about two hours on Sundays their new shirts have ring around the collar stains.

Interestingly- other spills and marks on other parts of the dress shirts have come out really easily.

Fels Naptha bar, it is so effective. It costs about a dollar. I find it at my grocery store or at Walmart.

A long time ago I worked at a dry cleaners. We used Windex on collars and cuffs then into a hot wash.

dawn works great too but you will need to dilute it for white garments.

the old commercial about the product “Whisk” taking away “Ring Around the collar” is now playing in my head, but seriously, I used to clean my hubby’s work shirts by making a paste and rubbing the collar well using Cascade powdered dishwasher detergent, and then I’d soak it overnight before washing in cold water.

            It really worked well.

              Q What causes ring-around-the-collar???
A Maybe oils from your skin & hair??
Sugg Try an inexpensive shampoo on the soiled area
              before laundering.

I used liquid Tide and put it into a spray bottle and kept one in each bathroom.

When they took off their shirts, they sprayed the collar and rubbed it in before dropping the shirt in the hamper.

I find that most boys and men don’t scrub their necks in the shower.

I bought bath brushes for them to use instead of wash cloths.

After I showed everyone how to use them, the ring around the collar problem mostly disappeared.

I had to deal with a lot of ring around the collar and the cuffs on white dress shirts, and other white shirts.

What worked for me was higher quality dish soap or tide with bleach liquid rubbed on it with my fingers before I threw them into the laundry.

I always washed them in hot water in Tide and I always got them spotless.

The only thing I wasn’t able to get out that way was filthy fifth wheel grease from the fifth wheel of a semi truck.

Totally bummed me out, because it was a nice white turtleneck sweater that I loved. (Retired truck driver here)

Couple drops of dawn dish soap and a small amount of water in shout spray.

Spray and scrub woth brush if needed.

Know that too much soap left in collars after washing will attract more dirt.

                    Rinse very well.

Rub detergent directly onto collars and scrub together then launder. Also mention to the kids that they need to scrub necks in the shower with a washcloth and soap or shampoo.

They probably are skipping this area, lol.
