I’ve never been, and am in my 30s. I’ve had a mullion jobs that have allowed me to travel the globe. Now here I am, feeling wildly regretful and irresponsible. I have. A bit of savings and that is it. I have no investments except about 2k in a Roth IRA.

I notice if I have money, I spend it on travel experiences and healthy food. I feel like I live pretty simply, but I am not happy with my finances.

My issue is I don’t have consistent income since I move so much and change jobs so frequent. It seems very hard to break this pattern. It’s hard to break bad habits, but I want to, so so bad. I want to be where you are!

I want to own real estate so bad, but the way I see it, is If I’m making financial decisions starting now, I won’t be able to travel again till I’m in my 50s, which sounds horrible.

Is there any way in earth I can get paid to explore different cultures through travel?

I sound like such a spoiled millennial.

Truth is, half the time when I’m traveling I’m annoyed and depressed and just want to be in a home base, then when I’m home I yearn to be away.

I feel like I need a career coach, but they want to charge 300 per hour which doesn’t seem like a great move. Help. I want to own real estate. I need a career.

Do I go to college now or just try to get job in sales or something?

I just saw a Tic Tok video where an 18 year old is suing her parents for support. She claims she did not ask to be born. So she should not have to work. They wanted a child so they should support her for life. Maybe you could try that? Then you can travel all you want.

But don’t forget… There are plenty of people who wish they could travel! Or spent their whole lives slaving and working and just wish they had more time doing new things and seeing new places. Two sides to every coin.

I’ll save you the cost of therapy. You have Peter Pan syndrome and FOMO.

To travel you need a skill. Learn 2-3 foreign languages, become a nurse, become a welder or electrician. Join the military and get

paid well to see the world.

You are very unlikely to get paid to simply go sight seeing around the world – unless you learn how to monetize it.

I went through a coding bootcamp that was free to St. Louis residents and totally switched my career path from Educator to Software Developer. My employer is location dependent for now, but I work virtually with an option to go into the office. So many software developer jobs you can work from anywhere. So if you’re interested in tech, this might be a good option to keep traveling and bring in some income.

It depends on what your goals are for the future. Owning real estate isn’t the end all be all for financial security, but if that’s your goal then you need to discipline yourself enough to get there. Stop spending money on the things you don’t care about so you can spend it on the things you do. Start by maxing out your Roth IRA NOW.

As for college, my FIL didn’t go. Because he didn’t have a degree he was never able to move up in his field, and was always stuck with the manual labor. Now he’s in his late 50s and his body is breaking down, my MIL had to get a job, and they will never be able to retire. Some of that is due to poor decision making and some of that is due to not having a degree, but he pushed hard for his kids to get degrees so they wouldn’t have to go through the same thing he did.

I don’t think you necessarily need a degree to be successful, but you do need to have a backup plan in case things don’t work out the way you imagined. What do you want your life to look like in 30 years?

I think you need to do some soul searching and determine what you really want. Your post sounds very fickle. I only say this because you sound like me. Have you gone to regular therapy ever?

Sounds like u need a remote job so you can keep traveling. And maybe an option to settle in 1 place every few months instead of constantly moving. Like move 2-4 times a year so u don’t feel stuck. U will need special skills to work remote though. College can help but only if u are fully decided on the career path.

It’s useful to further your education, whether that be through trade school, 2-yr college, 4-yr college, or certification. There are a lot of professions where you can get your degree paid for, such as nursing or teaching. U of Cincinnati offers a lot of free technical certifications. You can apprentice in a lot of trades and get paid to learn.

So first I think you need to look at what you’re good at and would interest you enough to keep at it.
