Currently we are in a title loan, that eats up a majority of my check. I only make 52k a year, she makes close to 31k a year. We have no rent/mortgage. About 4k in bills monthly, that can be covered all in my check.
We use her check to pay for groceries and other things, its really not a lot. I need to know where to start investing, or just where to put what little money we have leftover somewhere safe where it can grow.
Forgot to mention, I am 47, and my check is contract pay, so I have to pay taxes on it at the end of the year. I clear 4k a month, and the title loan eats up around 2k a month. 1400 in interest, and 600 left to pay off the 10k loan.
I know it was such a HORRIBLE decicion, but we were stuck between a rock and a hard place, and HAD to do it.
NEVER EVER EVER get a title loan.
ScottI’m assuming you can’t, but if you can, get a 0% APR, intro offer, credit card and pay off this title loan!
“600 left to pay”
So it will be paid off in a month?
“I need to know where to start investing”
You need to get rid of that title loan, ASAP!
Love that you are thinking about investing, but people on the Titanic, as it was sinking, wasn’t worried about what they will eat tomorrow!
DarlaGet a good tax accountant who can help you deduct what you can and pay things off early. Then tell you how much you can deduct for a SEP or IRA. Vanguard funds have done well for me.
