My daughter is getting married and they want an outdoor, backyard wedding.
Something very simple and inexpensive.
I need ideas on inexpensive invitations that can be done asap as they want to get married this fall.Any other money saving ideas are welcome.
RebeccaStaples, Michaels and Joannes all have printable wedding invites that look nice and have easy instructions on them.
I helped my sister pull her wedding together for $600 and it looked nice and tasteful.
I approached a supermarket in my area that always has nice flowers in stock and asked them to bulk order me baby roses, greens and babies breath and put together pretty little arrangements in groups of small vases and clustered them on tables.
We picked a Mediterranean theme for the food and made a ton of homemade rice pilaf, grilled veggies, salads and lots of food with skewers (chicken and shrimp kabobs, caprese salad on a stick, fruit kabobs, etc).
Kabobs keep meat prices down without seeming cheap.
Ask a few close relatives or friends to help you with cooking.
You can easily get the set ups for chafing dishes at dollar tree.
Buy extra aluminum pans there and freeze an inch of water in the bottom of the extra pans to put cold salads on to keep them cold.
I put them all on the table and cover them with another tablecloth to keep it looking nice.
KayleneJust make the majority of them electronic. Find someone on Etsy to print a small number if there’ll be guests who can’t handle e-invites.
ToriWe got ours on vista print and they were pretty inexpensive. Used a promo code I found online and made it even cheaper
I agree with others about evites.
You can always do post card save the dates (cheaper to mail too, if I remember correctly) and then an evite.
Some evite websites even have RSVP options that are quick and easy to send/recieve
DeAnnaThere a lot of groups on here for brides and wedding ideas including DYI .
Small weddings and regional groups that tend to share a lot of info and recent experiences
KimOur son married his bride at the beach. (Anywhere would work) It was very simple.
They were married at SUNRISE! I did the florals myself.
I asked him why sunrise.
His reply melted my heart … “I want her to be my wedded wife all of our wedding day.
” I melted and said yes I will do whatever it takes. The reception was a Breakfast buffet. Very cost conscious! Also it gave everyone else the rest of the day/weekend to enjoy the beach on their own.
It’s was this weekend 18 years ago at Myrtle Beach SC.
LeonaWe had a backyard wedding 27 years ago. It was great! 60 guests. We rented the big tent in case it rained (it didn’t, was a beautiful day)tables and chairs, table cloths, glasses.
Very reasonable.
A good baker friend made the cake, a DJ friend offered his services as a gift.
My only regret, no professional photographer, but we did get some nice pictures from friends and family.
We had to rent a porto potty for the men, (it was a nice one) women used the house.
Catered buffet style meal. Partied into the night…
JenniTry zazzle. You can use their design or customize your own. There are options to order from them or you can just purchase the file and print your own.
You can even do postcard size which will reduce the cost.
LucindaStaples sells invitation kits that you print at home. Other places probably have them too.
ChrisSo easy to do your own flowers, get rounds for ends of the aisles. Put ferns on them.
Easy to dig up wild ferns.
We did pot luck for food. Rent tables and chairs.
Find tablecloths on wedding sites.
Plus a lot of your wedding decor.
Brides use once and then sell cheap.
Order vases and candles from dollar store for centerpieces.
Greenery for centerpieces also from on line sites.
AletaTry Simply to Impress. I’ve used them a couple of times and they did not disappoint.
Their selections are plentiful and beautiful.
DianeAbove are a lot of great ideas. Since you asked for other great ideas, first and foremost please do not have a 200 person wedding if you cannot afford one.
Simple and small can still be elegant and memorable.
It’s about the bride and groom.
Look for dresses at thrift stores and maybe have a prix fixe menu at a restaurant.
Good luck and much happiness.
PattyA friend wrote our invitations in calligraphy on one page. I purchased nice linen stationary and made copies.
I rolled each invitation and tied with a ribbon then hand delivered them.
Another friend made a beautiful wedding cake for us.
We married at our church and held the reception at my parents house.
Cold cuts, cheese and relish tray with buns, cake and coffee/ iced tea
JasmyneI can make you guys a digital one that you can text out or do you want physical copies? Congrats
JosieI find outdoor, back yard more expensive and stressful as u need to borrow chairs, tables, tarps for sun or rain, more crockery etc.
where as if u hire a hall or sports club out, do ur own catering or hire someone, they have everything there and u clean up after.
u decorate as u need and also plenty of parking space and they might even have playground for kids if u invite them…
Invites do stationary shops do them, we have office works in Australia .
CassieTo me paper invitation are outdated & a waste of money. Create a fb group or use one of the wedding sites like the knot, canvas, evite.
If you have that one aunt who does not use technology send her a handwritten paper invite.
