My couch is dirty. What is the best way to clean it? I’m thinking about getting a spot cleaning machine like the Bissell Little Green.

I can afford it but hesitant.

Is this just a gimmick and I could just clean it with a wet rag?

      I value your opinions.

If the covers are removable, wash them on the gentle cycle and air dry. If they say not to wash, you can still try hand washing, but do this at your own risk.

I’ve done it on 3 couches and never had an issue. Hand washing in a sink/tub is also an option.

Bissell is good, but use the upholstery attachment.

I’ve only used it on fabric sections that are not removable like the arms or sides.

        But it worked fine.

I have a bissell and have used it on a couple of chairs. It definitely helped but it was more labor intensive than I expected.

The water quickly absorbed into the cushion so it didn’t pull out as much as I hoped.

Probably worth it if you have pets or small kids.

I would definitely do a chair or something again but a couch would be too much for me personally…

unless it was limited to cushions.

I would do on a hot day and lay cushions outside if possible, it would take awhile to dry. If inside then put a fan on it.

          * FYI I use my bissell for spots on carpet and rugs so it gets used enough to make the cost worth it.

My best luck with an upholster shampooer has been to just rent one from the grocery store.

Those things have a good strong extraction tool.

I have a hoover carpet cleaner (I have two sons and a husband who doesn’t take his shoes off at the door…), I have to use it far too much.

But I love that it has a carpet cleaning attachment, so I am able to use it to wash the carpets, the stairs, and the couch.

Little green is just not strong enough to suck the water out. I wash my covers in the washer on delicate and line dry.

Then I clean the rest with a rag.

I use a soft toothbrush if I have a stubborn stain.

Can you remove the cushions and wash them in the washing machine?

Check into having Stanley Steamer clean it. I have used several times and they were very good.

                    Looked and smelled new.
