Is Costco worth it for a single person with cats living with little to no storage space? I love some of their stuff and their prices but don’t know if I’d purchase enough for membership cost to be worthwhile.
As a single person with limited storage space and a couple of cats, I’m wondering if a Costco membership would really be worth it for me.
I know Costco is famous for offering bulk items and great deals, but I’m concerned about whether it’s practical given my living situation.
I don’t need to buy food in large quantities and don’t have much room for storage.
I’m also curious about whether Costco offers enough options for cat food, litter, and other pet essentials to make it beneficial.
Is there enough value in the membership for someone like me? How do other single people in similar situations find their Costco membership?
ShayDo you have a friend nearby you could split the membership with? Then you both benefit, and the lack of storage isn’t as big of an issue!
DonnetYou can buy a gift card and no membership needed
ImeldaIt’s only 3 of us. The gas station does pay off.
SheriI’ve had the same question. Single with two cats. Costco is not worth the membership for me.
SaraI save over $1500 a year against anyone else as a single woman by using their insurance services and bundling them with my home.
AshleyIt’s worthwhile for my family just for cat food & litter. (There’s so much more than that, of course).
So, I say yes.
SoniaIt depends on each person and how they shop I think. We are a family of 3 and I have plenty of storage, but a membership store would not save me money at all.
Kaityit’s good for stuff like ziplock bags, garbage bags, tp, paper towels etc. but I wouldn’t buy much else in bulk
ElyseDon’t think that it pays for u to join. Everything is so LARGE like it’s made for a family of 5
LoriEven just for gas and cat food and litter you will make out
MelissaGas and the $5 chicken pays for my Sam’s Club. I imagine it’s the same for Costco.
It also depends on how far the store is from you. Is it an area you frequent at least weekly.
LouiseTry it as a test for one year. Your buying habits will let you know. Gas alone is a savings. Most weeks it is a savings of 10 cents/liter.
DianaI am single and love Costco. But I have lots of storage and a freezer and a vacuum sealer. That’s the great tribunal for Costco.
LindaI have a Costco card for one, I manage to buy a lot of stuff. You have to be careful and not over do it with produce.
I always by paper goods and cleaning supplies.
Things you can freeze are a good deal.
AaronFamily a 3 here, and we wasted so much food buying at costco… the only thing we benefited from was buying bulk lunch chips, and pre-made dinners
KaylaLet supplies are a great price there. Just getting my dogs meds/treats/food there helps a ton. I also pass it on the way home from work so I get all my gas there.
It’s just hubby and I and 3 big dogs in a 1300sq/ft house and we use ours alot
KathyI have a membership. I use their version of 5 hr energy, so that pretty much covers the cost. I buy gas and all my paper products there.
I often have to leave part of it in my car, not much storage.
I buy my prilosec and allergy meds there and other supplements there.
I find it worth it.
JudyThe basic membership might be good for you. Sounds like you don’t need enough for their cash back membership card.
RuthIt just depends upon if you have storage space to buy and store bulk items and of course your budget too.
AmberWe’re a family of 3 and totally a benefit for us. Clothing, dog food, craft beer and seltzer water alone is a saving.
