Family of 4: 2 kids under 5. We are Europeans and currently in Asia. Saving a salary so around 4000€ a month. We invest most in etfs but recently have been paying back a small loan.
We have a house in europe which we pay a mortgage of 600€ – there is around 100k€ left.
We have been international since we started working so have nearly no work experience in our home country – this means we have nearly nothing towards a home country government pension.
It looks like we will return to Europe in the next couple of years – at 38 this I think puts us in a difficult situation as we will not have that much in our etf stocks (currently 80k€) and we will have to start working in our home country where we will not be able to save but will start contributing to the government pension but that’s like 15 years minimum and then a pension of like 800€.
Is it as bleak as I see it or am I missing something? Is there anything else we can do? Reason to move back is to give kids some roots.
Thanks..

YvonneIf you are moving to the netherlands you will have a big gab in your governement pension. For every year you live outside the netherlands you will get 2% less pension. So you need to look into that.
JohnGive the kids roots and then move back out of the home country again when they’re older.
