I have ADHD and it shows up bright and clear in certain areas of my life, one of them being taxes.
I’m a small business owner (LLC) who also works part-time as a W-2 employee.
I am a consultant who has clients and also sells online courses, so I have a few different kinds of income sources, and it all feels very complex and overwhelming.
I have a tax preparer but every year it seems that I or she miss some things and I end up having to owe more than originally expected, and I can’t help but think there’s a better solution.
Is there a service that any of you use that covers taxes and bookkeeping, and basically there’s a person to hold your hand letting you know when things are due, etc?
I have heard of an organization called Collective that promises this, but people using it have not given the best reviews.
Any other one-stop-shop kind of services that will deliver on what Collective promises?
I don’t want to pay an exorbitant amount, and yet I’m willing to pay a little extra because, in the end, I believe that it will be less expensive for me to have someone help me be on top of this.
Thank you in advance for any ideas!
KristenI own a bookkeeping firm. We help our clients with these types of reminders.
We do not do taxes but try to work closely with our clients CPAs.
TikvahIt sounds like you need someone who does bookkeeping and taxes. This way there is consistency and continuity.
Happy to talk offline if looking for services virtually (or physically if in the Florida area)
AshleyA spreadsheet, calendar reminder, or whiteboard can easily track due dates.
And find an accountant to help you set up Quickbooks.
It keeps all invoices and receipts in one place, and your accountant can grab everything at the end of the year for taxes.
I found it overwhelming to set up, but easy to use once it was up and running.
AbbeyWe do this for small businesses all the time. We’re not the cheapest solution but we specialize in small business accounting and advisory services including bookkeeping, tax planning, and sometimes tax prep depending on the client.
The bookkeeping is what makes the biggest difference for your taxes, if you hand your tax preparer nice clean books there shouldn’t be much room for error as far as the business portion is concerned.
We make sure all balance sheet accounts make sense and are reconciled, keep track of fixed assets and depreciation, make any adjusting entries to match your prior year return etc.
If you’d like a no obligation discovery call I’d be happy to help you figure out what exactly you need and don’t need and see if we’re a fit.
Either way you’ll come away knowing more about what you should be looking for in a professional that you hire to do this for you.
