Can we rent a house that is slightly above our budget and rent out another room leading to a significant decrease in monthly rent or just rent an apartment where it meets our budget and not have to rent out a room?
We easily qualify for both types of house set ups but getting frustrated on finding a place as we are running out of time with lease ending this month.
StephanieAlso- be sure you read the lease terms. Some prevent allowing other occupants (not named on the lease) to live there.
TessaWell I gues it is a calculation. If you pay 2k in rent for a place and can rent out a room for 500k. Your nett cost will be 1500. But if you rent for 1600 and there is no space to rent out, your nett cost is 100 higher. The thing is; what is your comfort your worth?
For 100 more you have all privacy. But all small extras make in the end many extras. So if you don’t care about your privacy, pick what make your costs the lowest.

SeanMake sure that the landlord is willing to let you sublease, but if that’s fine, then yes that’s a good idea.
