I do what I call “refrigerator stew”. Every leftover (the last bit of ketchup or salsa from the bottle, excess broth from watery soups, vegetables my kids set aside from their plates, leftover pasta sauce, etc) gets thrown to a 1.5qt glass container in my freezer.

When it fills up, I defrost and put it in a pot to make soup. If it’s too watery I’ll add fresh or frozen veggies, if it’s too thick, I’ll add water or broth.

It always comes out very hearty, with bits of chicken and/or beef, rice, beans, whatever! My family doesn’t know how I make it, but everytime I do, my husband says he loved the soup!!

Whatever my kids won’t eat, gets thrown in there for later. So nothing goes to waste!

My aunt gave me a recycled plastic container with a label on it “kitchen soup” for this purpose to store in the freezer for a bridal shower gift!

I do this but my go to is a large can of (generic) V8 juice. I usually throw in some beans, lentils, split peas or left over rice also.

          Best soup ever!

I used to do the same but had 2 ice-cream buckets in the freezer. One for chicken based soup and one for beef

My mom did this but in casserole form. Luckily I didn’t mind casseroles. There was always a pan of fresh biscuits or cornbread and a little salad or fruit cocktail to accompany that.

I call it the “soup box” ie plastic freezer box where all the small leftover bits go until it’s full.

ThenI add the box, a quart of tomatoes, and a can of mixed veggies to the crock pot.

Just froze up leftover gravy and a cream sauce for soup. Never waste food is what I was taught growing up.

Mom always called that mixtery…a mysterious mix of whatever we had left over!

Have saved meats/ veggies for years; often add potatoes, carrots frozen tomatoes, then some seasonings; goes into Crockpot early morning for evening meal.

It’s referred to as Maytag Stew; actually, depends on brand of freezer we have at the time.

Fridge soup. The only down side is when you think “that’s the best soup I’ve ever made” and you know you’re never going to have the same mix of fridge items again.

I call it clean out the freezer/frig soup. Bits of frozen veggies that have been saved, partial bags of veggies, tubs of beef or chicken broth.

Add in the veggies in the fridge that are on the edge.

                          Small amounts of uncooked pasta.
