Do any of you have a Sam’s Club membership and if so does it save you a lot?
Also if you have a membership do you recommend the basic Club plan or the Plus plan?
I currently have Walmart Plus but wondering if I could save more buying in bulk.
Thanks!
LoriWhile I do think buying in bulk definitely saves money, I did not renew my Sam’s membership.
I have cut my grocery costs significantly like a third to half of what I was spending by shopping at Aldi
CarissaLove my sams club plus with credit card. The credit card saves 5 percent on gas which pays for the membership.
I mostly use the shipping option but have done the free curbside pickup a few times lately.
KellyI have the Plus plan. My household consists of my husband and me. I feel we save money because we do not shop frequently since we buy in bulk (eliminates impulse buying).
I try to stop into Sam’s a few days a month to check for marked down meats to stock my deep freezer
(this usually happens mid morning at my location), things that are too much for us to use get divided between friends so we all benefit from the savings, and I do love the free shipping
(policies are changing but even with a minimum purchase for free shipping, it’s still really doable).
I often check the app for clearance items.
I am not the type of person to commit to coupons and sale ad chasing so Sam’s definitely saves us money!
GloriaSam’s plus. There are 2 of us. I do the majority of my shopping there.
I shop once or twice a month. Once is usually a bigger amount like dog food, meat, toiletries, vegetables, dairy and fruit.
Because of the quantities, I alternate purchase of meat.
One month I buy hamburger and chicken.
Separate and freeze portions.
Last month, I found ribeyes reduced in price.
Not something we can usually afford.
The second trip is mostly to replenish vegetables.
What I enjoy most about Sam’s plus is I can shop at 8 am.They open then for plus members.
I used to have groceries from different stores delivered to my elderly mother who lives in another state.
What I noticed is all grocery stores inflate their prices for most items for delivery except for Walmart.
RobinI have the Walmart Plus and the Sam’s Plus. I use Sam’s for bulk things like paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
and I use the Walmart so I can get deliveries instead of going to the store.
I find them both beneficial.
JackeeI’m single. I have Sam’s plus and my rewards are usually twice what the yearly cost is.
Love their meats!
VanessaSams plus. The free shipping is most often next day so when the kids go umm we forgot to mention the cheez it’s are gone I can place an order and it’s here next day.
We also love the early shopping hours.
CindyGot on Groupon for $20 bucks. Plus didn’t add up for me. Save money on water, chicken and vegetables.
Plus the Cafe is a winner.
CoraI have the plus were moving into a family of 4 I originally got it with my ex-husband, and we were a family of 2 honestly unless you have a car that goes through tires often, I don’t find the plus worth it because we’re not getting enough back ….
However, with the plus we do get some money back which is nice
AlbertaWe have the Plus plan but we feed 6 people daily. We get all our meats, paper products and a lot of our produce there.
If you are lucky and your Sam’s Club has gas pumps you save on gas.
With the plus you get money back on every purchase.
I also get house hold items there and it’s good quality.
Sheets, beach towels, very large storage bins and their baked goods are delicious.
If you only have 2 people, probably not worth the plus, just the basic but I spent $250.00 in there yesterday and need more stuff (that I forgot) tomorrow!
CindyWe have Sam, BJ and Costco. On items such as cereal, Sam’s is significantly cheaper.
DenniseI no longer have a Sams club membership. I had one when I had 2 kids at home, but then found out most the bulk stuff I needed I could get from a restaurant cash/carry near me.
Now it’s just the 2 of us and I save just as much if not more by shopping at Aldi and using Walmart Plus.
Do the answer likely depends on how many are you feeding?
Do you have room to store the bulk buying, would you save in other ways like gas, and what other stores are in your area.
Perhaps it would benefit finding s friend or family member with s club membership and shopping with them if it’s only a few times a year.
My brother takes my mom occasionally to stock up for her.
She just pays him back.
PattiI really like it snd have a Sam’s Plus membership. They are changing. I’m noticing higher prices for shipped items when they were the same price as in the store a few months ago.
It’s not much and if you only need a few items it would still be less than gas but it’s annoying.
I also love their curbside as that can save a lot of time.
I think they are changing the shipping to requiring $50 minimums sometime this month.
We buy lots of things that we like better than at Costco although they may have discontinued a few items we like as they have been out for months.
HelenCheck Sam’s website; often they have a special for either membership. We have Sam’s +; the bonus cash always pays for the yearly subscription fee plus extra cash.
I’m 20+ miles from the store but order online for free shipping. We get 5% on all gas purchases wherever we use our card.
Only two of us; I buy bulk; really nice not having to go out shopping; I calculate costs per ounce/pound/ with same products in other retailers.
Sam’s is less expensive; the Members Marks items are good.
My husband bought his hearing aids at Sam’s; excellent customer service since then; saved thousands.
I understand their optical department is very good, no personal experience.
Also, have Walmart+; use it as well; have our Paramount+ basic free; recently I had opportunity to take advantage of early shopping hours and snagged big savings on two wedding gifts; that happens a few times each year.
TristiaI had the Plus plan when there was free shipping on everything. During COVID it saved me a ton.
AliciaI’ve had a Sam’s membership for decades now and if you stick to the stuff that you use and are aware of what the price is in a “normal” store you can make out.
DeborahI am a single senior and have a Plus membership with the credit card which I only use at Sam’s.
It saves me money on things I usually buy and that pays the membership fee.
I buy in bulk and for holiday meals which I host for the whole family.
Their meat is great quality and I lurk around for the markdowns, particularly lamb.
I highly recommend it.
