They said you should freeze fresh baked bread instead of placing it in the refrigerator if your not going to eat it right away.

Description: I’m seeking advice on the best way to store fresh bread to maintain its taste and texture.

I’ve heard conflicting opinions about whether it’s better to freeze or refrigerate fresh bread.

I understand that refrigerating bread can lead to it drying out and becoming stale more quickly, but I’m unsure if freezing might affect the bread differently.

Question: Should I freeze fresh bread instead of refrigerating it? What are the pros and cons of each method, and how does each impact the bread’s quality, flavor, and texture over time?

Any tips on how to properly freeze and reheat bread to keep it as fresh as possible would also be appreciated.

      Thank you!

I put mine in sandwich bags, and put them in a ziplock bag, when I take it out of sandwich bag, I put the bag back in to reuse then back in freezer, I live in a gluten free house so make it as well.

I’ve always sliced and frozen my homemade bread without anything between the slices.

I’ve never had a problem separating the frozen slices.

I just haven’t found the need to spend time and money on freezer paper, but I encourage everyone to do what works best for them.

I wrap each sliced separately in saran wrap and then put it back in the original bag if I have bought it from the store.

It lasts for many many weeks.

The Dollar Tree sells packs of parchment paper squares; 100 sheets of 4″x4″ squares. Time saver.

How do you get your bread to look like store bought sandwich bread?

That’s always been my goal with baking bread but I’ve never gotten close.

I will lay it on the cookie sheet when it’s frozen then I put it in the freezer bag

Great tip! What type/kind of bread or freezer bags do you use? Is there a particular brand off of Amazon or some other Retailer that you prefer to use.

I’m about to start baking my own breads again.

For over 20 years I have always frozen my bread too.

I’m not sure why your bread ‘sticks’ together.
