I wanted to share with you all how blessed I feel. My husband was expecting a 3 dollar raise for which we were grateful for. Instead he got a 7 dollar raise. I’m just so shocked and thankful to the Lord for this.

Also thankful that we learned early to not live above our means. We have been getting raises throughout the years and always continued on like we didn’t get a raise. I chuckle because I act like Julius from Everybody Hates Chris.

My husband jokes to others about it but I know he gets happy when he sees our bills. This months utilities bills were 92 dollars. We put away 300 a month for it so now we pocket 208 dollars.

All because we are mindful of our use. We came across frugalism when we were paying off our debt. Both 23/24 at that time working our butts off to pay off our debt. Our friends thought we were crazy but it was way worth it in the end. We learned how to budget and we were able to cash flow our wedding, honeymoon, and a downpayment for a house at 26 all things to being frugal and intentional.

Now we are both 29, debt free minus the house and Happy and content with our lives. Being frugal and intentional for 6 and learning and becoming a minimalist( just me lol) we don’t want anything.

Even now with this huge raise for my husband we are just going to continue like normal. I am so happy we are at that level of contentment where there is nothing physical we want. I told my husband we will keep saving but I want to also help others in need because I feel fortunate.

I love this forum so much and you all continue to inspire me and teach me more ways to keep being frugral. This is one of the only reasons I log into Facebook. You are my frugal family.

The best part of going to the mailbox is getting no bills.. Debt free is worth every ounce of conservatism and frugal living under your means of income… it sets you free…

You are inspirational! Very well done! What a great start on your financial path. Unsolicited advice from someone more than twice your age.

Have savings for emergencies, some suggest months others say years.

Contribute to max of company matching 401k first.

If you have high deductible insurance, save in HSA because of tax advantages and investment opportunities above a minimum amount.

Start Roth accounts and max those.

Depending on rate of mortgage consider early pay off.

You do not mention cars. Buy dependable but used is to your benefit financially.

Enjoy life today too. Budget your travel and save on what does not matter, like lux hotels vs hostels.

I’m 73 years old and never know the contentment you are feeling right now. I live Social Security check to the one the next month. The cost of living makes everything high. I raised 4 children without much help but I love my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. God is good and they are others much worse off than me. I wish you the very best.
