I followed the plan of shop your own house/pantry first and filled just about all of my son’s school list. It’s liberating to get out of the mindset that everything needs to be perfect or new for us to be happy and fulfill certain needs. It also frees up my budget to donate some school supplies to children that need them;)
This is one of the best frugal tips I’ve followed consistently lately.
TrishaThank you for donating. Taught 44 + years…never saw it. We teachers usually end up buy hundreds of notebooks, pens, pencils, colores markets…in high school they never have their supplies!
JuanitaI keep school supplies and extras in my office. I always tell the grands to shop there first. I buy things on sale.
When you find a good product go with it, i.e. crayola crayons, Ticonderoga pencils…also don’t send everything to school at once unless you are supplying other kids in class their items too.
Don’t miss: What are the tips in managing the family income wisely?
CarolMy son is going to camp next week. We have spent quite a bit in past years to get him ready. We went to the Dollar store today for a couple of items and tonight we will “shop our house”.
AmyThis got worse every year I taught. Started with a few not having then none. The year of covid there was no excuse everyone was getting extra cash.
