Need ideas for frugal appetizer options for 20 people that complement French Bread.

I’m planning a gathering for about 20 people and would love to serve appetizers that complement French bread. I’m looking for ideas that are easy to prepare, cost-effective, and delicious.

The goal is to keep the budget reasonable while still impressing my guests with a variety of flavors and textures.

Whether it’s spreads, dips, or small bites that can be served alongside slices of bread, I’m open to all suggestions! Bonus points if the ingredients are easy to find and can be prepared in advance.

Looking forward to your creative ideas!

Maybe a spread with cream cheese, garlic and diced olives. Blend in some olive oil

Spinach dip. I make an easy pizza dip in a crockpot (1 jar pizza sauce, one block cream cheese, 1 cup mozzarella, 1t Italian seasoning, 1/2t red pepper flakes, one bag mini pepperonis), and use both French bread cubes and pita chips as dippers.

If you are using baguette, I would suggest toasted baguette with brie, slice of apple and candied walnuts/pecans toasted.

                Brie in croute.

Add fig or guava jelly on top of a large brie round.

Wrap in croissant dough and bake.

Take 2 bricks of Philly cream cheese, pour pepper jelly over it, use the bread to scoop it up. Done!

You could do a beshamel sauce and add garlic and your choice of cheese serve as fondue or split bread toast it and pour sauce on top you could add toppings like artichoke or arugula roasted garlic and peppers etc

Make crostinis out of the bread then take goat cheese from Aldi (very reasonable) and crumble it into an oven safe container.

Pour spaghetti sauce over it and bake at 350 until bubbly (approx 20 minutes).

Remove from oven, garish with strips of basil if you want. Serve with crostinis.

drizzle of EVOO on the french bread and put it in the oven until a little crispy.

then scoop the tomato salad on top.

I recently made a whipped pumpkin dip. It was ricotta and marscapone with canned pumpkin. Pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and pumpkin honey

Beef queso dip in the slow cooker. It’s usually Rotel, ground beef, and Velveeta.

                                  I can’t remember if there’s anything else

Mexican tortilla roll ups. Buy the pkg large flour tortillas. And it will make plenty for 20 people.

Cream cheese, shredded cheddar, can of chopped black olives, can of drained rotel, taco seasoning, sour cream, I can of drain green chilies.

I have also used some fried chorizo and add to mixture. Spread, roll, wrap in plastic wrap.

And leave in fridge until ready to cut into spirals.

Olive oil, parmesan and ground black pepper.
                                      Small cups of hummus.

A cute way of serving peanut butter ‘n jelly.
