Need ideas for frugal appetizer options for 20 people that complement French Bread.
I’m planning a gathering for about 20 people and would love to serve appetizers that complement French bread. I’m looking for ideas that are easy to prepare, cost-effective, and delicious.
The goal is to keep the budget reasonable while still impressing my guests with a variety of flavors and textures.
Whether it’s spreads, dips, or small bites that can be served alongside slices of bread, I’m open to all suggestions! Bonus points if the ingredients are easy to find and can be prepared in advance.
Looking forward to your creative ideas!
MattyMaybe a spread with cream cheese, garlic and diced olives. Blend in some olive oil
AliOpen faced cucumber sandwiches with ranch mixed with cream cheese and dill on top.

SabraGo to the dollar store and get a bunch of different things one can put onto the bread and make a board out of it.
MicheleSpinach dip. I make an easy pizza dip in a crockpot (1 jar pizza sauce, one block cream cheese, 1 cup mozzarella, 1t Italian seasoning, 1/2t red pepper flakes, one bag mini pepperonis), and use both French bread cubes and pita chips as dippers.
AmyIf you are using baguette, I would suggest toasted baguette with brie, slice of apple and candied walnuts/pecans toasted.
Brie in croute.
Add fig or guava jelly on top of a large brie round.
Wrap in croissant dough and bake.
HeatherSwiss cheese, Clausen stacker pickle, topped with a grape tomato.

KatieMake crostinis out of the bread then take goat cheese from Aldi (very reasonable) and crumble it into an oven safe container.
Pour spaghetti sauce over it and bake at 350 until bubbly (approx 20 minutes).
Remove from oven, garish with strips of basil if you want. Serve with crostinis.
TerryMelt cheese on French bread and place sliced strawberries or sliced warm apple slices on bread
Lindadice up tomatoes, a little red onion, salt, pepper, basil or oregano then add olive oil and some water for juice. refridge.
