Visiting the USA on a road trip in a few days Washington, Oregon coast, California). Booked several hotels with breakfasts. A few air BnBs along the way with kitchens and laundry.
What are some other good money saving tips while traveling here?
Haven’t been to the States since 2015.
JuliaJust be aware that prices on everything have gone up so much higher than in 2015. If you are prepared for that mentally you will be able to deal with it so much better.
WandaSelf cater as much as possible and enjoy the fun of picking up seasonal / local food along the way. Check to see if the exchange rates are better on your credit card or debit. Depending where you go, some cities have 3 or 7 day passes which may or may not save you money.
If anyone is a student be sure to bring their student card. Walk. Look at local websites of activities in places you are going. We spent a year traveling with our kids and some of the best days were when we wandered into a local community event.
Don’t miss: Best way for paying things in the States?
MollyI live in Washington! We buy food before we get to the beach because we find that the groceries are much more expensive at the beach grocery stores (that might not be true for every beach, but the ones we go to!).
KaraThat’s a gorgeous trip;
Long Beach WA is fun, Marsh’s free museum,
All the state parks (lighthouses) on that route are fantastic. Lots of just off the main road small family businesses are fantastic (Sisters & Pete in Manzanita, OR for pie & coffee) Oregon is my fav. Spend a day in Cannon Beach, OR. Historic sites are fun too. Lewis & Clark Salt monument in Seaside, OR is a cool drive by to see the end of trail history.
