Juice the limes & freeze in ice cube trays to use later in recipes, drinks…

If you’ve never made homemade pear sauce, it takes quite a while to peel and deseed (I like to do it during a show), but it tastes about a hundred times better than applesauce, especially applesauce from the store.

          It freezes well too.

Limes can be cut in half & frozen. They can be zested while frozen or microwaved if you want the juice for a recipe.

Cutting them in half is the most versatile way to freeze them.

The smaller you cut them, the more juice you lose.

Or, juice them & freeze the juice in ice cube trays. Pop out the cubes & put them in a ziploc bag.

Pears make excellent “pearsauce” (applesauce, but with pears) and if you can, pear butter makes great holiday gifts!

You can slice the limes and put them in mason jars with white vinegar. Let them marinate for weeks/months.

I use leftover citrus fruits to make a natural cleaner that I use on windows, hard water spots, shower, etc.

Works great, healthier in the home, and far less expensive than commercial cleaners.

We had that happen with eggs at our Food Shelf- I took 1 case, drove to a retirement community and down our block- within about an hour- happy neighbors and eggs didn’t go to waste.

Slice the pears thinly and sprinkle with a little bit of sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon and dehydrate in the oven at about 200°.

                    They’re so good.

Half the pears, once you scoop out the core, add gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and drizzle with honey and bake at 350 for 45 min!

I don’t enjoy eating a pear on its own all that much but any dessert made with apples tastes so much better when substituting pear IMO.

For the limes, I’d start by zesting them and freezing the zest. You could juice them all and freeze that.

Things I would do is make lime simple syrup for cocktails or limeade and I would grab some cheap wine and sliced limes to start a sangria base to have next summer.

Pear honey can be made in the crockpot and frozen in single cup servings. It’s amazing on pancakes!

It’s one of those old church cookbook recipes

Pear butter, in the crockpot like apple butter, then freeze. You can also make pearsauce(like applesauce).

You just remove it sooner from the crockpot.

Make pear sauce and freeze it. It’s great to make breads and muffins with or to just eat on its own

Learn online how to water bath can pears. It’s easy when you follow the steps. You will need canning jars and lids, a deep enough pan to cover the pint jars with 1 inch of water.

Be sure to put a spacer or towel at the bottom of the pan to prevent the glass sitting directly on the bottom.

Pear butter and pear pie is so good. You could also freeze the pears.

Cook them into sauce (just like apple sauce). You can use some of limes with that too. Pear tarts are also nice. Lime is a nice marinade for chicken especially with paprika and red pepper.

Limes are also nice stuffed into a turkey just cut them in half.

Google recipes for “chicken with pears”. Sounds weird, but it was wonderful. Made it for company. Rave reviews. It call for fresh ground ginger.

You can get that in a tube.
